Here we are. There's no evidence of any experiments being conducted on Saturn's surface. Captain Janeway suggests you examine its rings... a risky proposition, considering their magnetic distortions.
~ The Doctor

The Rings of Time is the first mission in Episode 6, Something Rotten. It takes place at Saturn in the Terran system.

  • The Doctor: "Several of your crew members remain in Sickbay, but they've insisted I deliver a report on their findings. There's been a drastic change in the composition of Saturn's rings. No tholin impurities, four percent less amorphous carbon... in essence, several rings are missing."

    • Captain: "Missing? What happened to them?"
    • The Doctor: "Local chroniton readings suggest they have moved to another moment in time, but more alarming is the presence of residual subatomic particles–suggesting they were physically, intentionally moved there by a transporter."
