Category:Traits
Traits are qualities and inherent attributes belonging to Crew and Ships. They are broad concepts, such as species, personality, skill, or organizational affiliation. Examples of Traits include Human, Borg, Federation, Starfleet and Inspiring. Traits, along with Skills, are used to determine the outcomes of challenges in Missions and Voyages, usually by giving a bonus. However, sometimes a certain crew trait is required to unlock a specific mission node.
Bonus Amount
The amount of trait bonus depends on the minimum skill required to complete the mission. There seems to be a formula used across all missions though the full trait bonus as a fraction of the skill requirement seems to be between 1/8 and 1/4.
Both the normal skill bonus and the trait bonus are reduced when one uses the same crewman consecutively on away missions (making the crewman "tired"). They are reduced to 80 percent of their full value, rounded down.
Full Trait Bonus Tired Trait Bonus 5 4 (= 5 * 80%) 6 4 (= 6 * 80% = 4.8 rounded down)
Note that the formula (if it exists) is discontinuous. For example, when the skill requirement is 67 and 70, the trait bonus is 16; however to assume all trait bonuses between them are 16 would be wrong because a skill requirement of 68 gives only 15 as the trait bonus.
List of Known Traits
Currently there are 250 known crew traits.
Some traits are only represented by one Crew character, while others are represented by dozens. This category lists all currently known crew traits and most of the Crew representing each trait.
Some traits have been replaced, for instance, the Spy trait was originally removed on 3/4/2016 and all crew with the trait were given Undercover Operative instead. The Engineer trait was removed on 01/19/2017. All nodes with the trait were replaced with Jury Rigger, Innovator or Saboteur. Here you can find recently Discontinued Traits.
Ships have their own traits as well. And while many of those traits are the same as Crew, some are unique Ship Traits.
