Storyline
Announcement
Sometimes, the most terrifying things in the cosmos come not from the farthest reaches, but from within. Several crew members with ties to the destroyed science vessel are experiencing terrifying phenomena of their own. Investigate…at your own risk! [1]
Prologue
- Scared Scotty: "Missing space...things lingering in the shadows...footsteps...one minute, I'm in engineering, the next, I'm in the mess and I can't remember how I've got there...l look out the viewport and this...thing looms in the distance...!"
- Nightless Neelix: "All right, calm down. Let's just take it step by step. You visited that science vessel to assist with repairs. What's the next thing you remember?"
- Brain Drain Crusher and Riker: "l have a feeling you won't get much more from him than that. Just like the others who've come in contact with that science vessel or its crew, his mind seems to have been altered. We'll need someone to investigate further for us. Think you can lend us a hand, Captain?"
- Scared Scotty: "What in the bloody hell is THAT!? I can't take much more!"
Intermission
- Brain Drain Crusher and Riker: "Well done, Captain. Reviewing the logs from your investigation, it appears there is a connection between the nightmares and fears of certain individuals and the phenomena being experienced by those who had close proximity to the science vessel. That gives us somewhere to start."
- Nightless Neelix: "Wait, are you saying our nightmares are coming to life? How is that possible? These aren't like, holo-projections, Doctor! They're very real! I mean, look at poor Commander Riker there!"
- Choice A
- Captain: "How could that be possible?"
- Brain Drain Crusher and Riker: "From what I've gathered, the science vessel appears to have been researching the intersection of different dimensions in an attempt to combat the temporal anomaly crisis. But it appears they've opened the door to something sinister, something we weren't meant to have access to."
- Choice B
- Captain: "What exactly do we do about that?"
- Brain Drain Crusher and Riker: "We don't have enough data on what it was the science vessel did to unleash these nightmares. So our best option for now is to quarantine and treat those who are the source of these terrifying phenomena until we can find a permanent solution."
- Choice C
- Captain: "Uh, is Commander Riker okay?"
- Brain Drain Crusher and Riker: "Fine, Captain. Why do you ask?"
- Brain Drain Crusher and Riker: "I've prepared tools to address these phenomena and other factions who are having their own troubles have also cooperated to help come up with their own treatments. For now, let's focus on treating the source of the phenomena - the individuals from whose minds they've sprung."
Epilogue
- CMO Crusher: "Phew, Captain, thank you for your help. Commander Riker and l are finally free from that...rather uncomfortable situation. It will take time to address the dimensional intersection, but for now, the impacted individuals can find relief."
- Commander Riker: 'I'm not exactly sure what happened, but thank you, Captain. By the way, is anyone else feeling a little lightheaded?"
