Storyline
Announcement
Mariner reaches out to you in a panic. Starfleet has had an eye on her lately, leading several smuggling deals she had going to fall apart. She needs to deliver supplies to Andoria, insisting that it’s for “agriculture and stuff”. But with the spotlight trained on her, she could use a crafty Captain to help accomplish her mission. [1]
Prologue
- Insubordinate Mariner: "Hey there, Captain. You know, l wasjust looking for someone who recently got passed up for a citation of Conspicuous Gallantry and I think you mightjust fit the bill!"
- Insubordinate Mariner: "See, Starfleet's been on my ass lately. You swap one shipment of synthale with bloodwine and all the sudden, it's 'an embarrassment to Starfleet' this and 'disrespecting the Prophets' that. You'd think I played marbles with the Tears of the Prophets or something."
- Insubordinate Mariner: "Anyway, I don't have time to wait for the bosses to get off my tail. That's where you come in. l have some friends on Andoria waiting on a little shipment from me. For...uh...agriculture—y, science—y something-or-other. Anyway, I need you to get it over there for me. Sound good?"
- Commander Ransom: "You never learn, do you, Mariner?"
Intermission
- Insubordinate Mariner: "Not bad, Captain. See, it's not hard to get a little creative with those old Starfleet rules. I like to think of it as the Janeway method of getting things done"
- Safecracker Nog: "It's not hard. Starfleet always says one thing and does another, so why can't we?"
- Commander Ransom: ""You could probably find something better to do with your skills though, Captain, than end up a frequent visitor to the brig like Mariner."
- Choice A:
- Captain: "Always willing to lend a helping hand."
- Insubordinate Mariner: "That's the spirit. You're a regular Jean-Luc Picard, always there to help those in need!"
- Choice B:
- Captain: "I've got my own way of doing things, it's no big deal."
- Ensign Rutherford: "So you're like Mariner too then? Did you also steal the warp core from a Galaxy-class starship because their engineers wouldn't shut up about how much better they were than California-classes?
- Choice C:
- Captain: "Let's just keep my involvement off the record..."
- Commander Ransom: "Don't worry, you won't catch any of this on my logs. I've got my own reputation to maintain."
- Ensign Rutherford: "Have fun delivering the illegal goods!"
Epilogue
- Ensign Rutherford: "Hey, good job on delivering the goods all sneaky-like, Captain. You might just have some of those shadowy guys from Section 31 beam over and draft you one of these days. Cool!"
