Storyline
Announcement
The temporal anomaly crisis is beginning to have many health effects, both on those who have traveled through time and those who have been exposed to the anomalies. But the most pronounced - and difficult to treat - are those effects on those who have traveled the furthest, either through time or across dimensions! [1]
Prologue
- Caretaker Kim: "Thanks for answering my hail, Captain. I'm on the mend, thankfully. The many doctors here have made some pretty impressive medical advances. But there are other interesting patients here, and from what everyone's saying, there's plenty more like them."
- Mobile Doctor: 'To be specific, Mr. Kim is referring to several patients who are exhibiting strange symptoms. Phasing in and out, misplaced molecules, all manner of painful physical presentations. The one common factor linking them is they are all displaced, temporally if not dimensionally."
- Danara Pel: "Despite our research, we can find no obvious cause for this. Their arrival in this time and place is the only commonality. Even more concerning, the further they are from their original time, the worse their conditions appear to be."
- Dysek: 'The medical community is stretched rather thin galaxy-wide. Even with all the extra hands thanks to the anomalies, resources are still spread thin and without some guidance, our efforts are limited in scope. Think you can help bring our research together, Captain?"
Intermission
- Danara Pel: "I'm sorry, Shmullus, but I still can't understand why being compared to sugar in this poem is flattering for people from Earth. Oh, look, the Captain is back! Captain, thank you so much for assisting in the research and syncing up with professionals across the galaxy."
- Mobile Doctor: "Yes, Captain, thank you...though your timing leaves something to be desired. I thought sending you across the galaxy might have taken a little longer. At any rate, it seems you've made ample progress. I believe Dr. Dysek has a proposal he would like to speak with you about."
- Dysek: "I wasn't exactly ready to disclose my idea, but since the Doctor has put me on the spot...l was thinking that certain factions are being bit harder for various reasons. The KCA, Section 31, and the Terran Empire are all at a disadvantage for different reasons."
- Choice A
- Captain: "Why should we help the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance?"
- xxx: "They're already strapped for resources and discord threatens their fragile structure at every turn. And yet, they've had several of their own cross over."
- Choice B
- Captain: "What could Section 31 need, they're Federation, right?"
- Dysek: "True, but the Department of Temporal Investigations is under the Section 31 banner. Within the Federation, they are some of the hardest hit. Not only that, they can't always go public with the individuals under their care who've arrived here."
- Choice C
- Captain: "If we help the Terran Empire, can they match what we have to offer?"
- Dysek: "Emperor Georgiou has proven a valuable case study — and resource - yet many other Terrans resist
treatment. To say nothing of the Empire's own dwindling resources."
- Dysek: "So, I was thinking, why not enlist these factions' help, in exchange for resources and treatments? They help us test out and distribute the solutions we have, and we get what they need to those who are impacted? What do you say, Captain?"
