Storyline
Announcement
Between the temporal anomaly crisis and those attempting to participate in a possible new Temporal War, medical personnel across the galaxy are seeing a rash of odd temporal maladies. [1]
Prologue
- Starfleet Medical Phlox: "Greetings, Captain. Good of you to answer my hails. As you can see, I have a somewhat reluctant patient in my care. Unfortunately, he's one of many."
- Antaak: "He is right. We have been seeing a rash of maladies I can only call temporal in nature. Tachyon radiation poisoning. Phasing. A rash of Klingons insisting they are caught between two points in time. And something tells me the ramblings of this being are not wholly symptomatic."
- Degraded Sphere-Builder: "You haven't the tools to treat me. And my own kind have cast me aside. A prisoner fit only for testing the viability of existing here. But there are more pressing matters you should concern yourself with. These temporal maladies are note merely Sphere Builder interference.."
Intermission
- Antaak: "You've managed to gather some interesting information, Captain. This certainly fills in some holes, though unfortunately, it also appears worse than we feared, Phlox."
- Starfleet Medical Phlox: "It would seem you are right. Look, the Captain even brought us a case of someone being caught between the present and the prehistoric era on Earth. Fascinating! Ah, but yes, taken as a whole, the rise in temporal maladies is worse than anything we've seen."
- Bartender Quark: "Did I hear someone say temporal maladies? Might I be able to interest you fine medical professionals in some advanced medicine I recently acquired? I hear it's perfect for treating temporal maladies. Something about tachyons or chronitons or what have you. Real top grade stuff!"
- Choice A
- Captain: "I'm assuming these maladies aren't a mere byproduct of the anomaly crisis?"
- Starfleet Medical Phlox: "We certainly have seen our fair share since the crisis began, but nothing on the scope or suddenness of this recent outbreak. Across quadrants, species, factions - even the time period individuals come from offers us little correlation."
- Choice B
- Captain: "Any chance these maladies could be intentional?"
- Antaak: "That's a question our scientists have been exploring as well. But as I'm sure the good doctor would tell you, the lack of common factors between patients and their maladies makes that difficult to say."
- Choice C
- Captain: "Really convenient you to just happen to be on the comm channel for this, Quark."
- Bartender Quark: "What are you implying, Captain? That I was hacking and eavesdropping on the communications of certain medical professionals!? The nerve, Captain. Why, I should sue you for this tawdry attempt to damage my pristine reputation!"
- Starfleet Medical Phlox: "While our Ferengi friend's offer is a tempting one, | find it unwise to pursue without thorough investigation. I'd rather avoid a case where trying to cure someone who is slightly out of phase ends up with lethal helical trauma. Care to assist, Captain?"
Epilogue
- Antaak: "Commendable work, Captain. We were able to make use of the treatments you provided, dubious in origin as some of them might be. Unfortunately, that seems to be a running theme in the Empire currently."
