Storyline
Announcement
Photonic literary genius strikes again! The Doctor is penning his next great holo-masterpiece when holograms from abandoned drafts past find their way into his current novel. And their reappearance is influencing more than just the realm of fiction! [1]
Prologue
- Author Doctor: "Thank you for answering my distress call! I'm dealing with a true emergency. You see, I'm working on my next holonovel - I really think I've got something here - but characters from Photons Be Free have found their way into my new work and have completely thrown me off."
- Lieutenant Marseilles: "You think you've 'got something'? Your holomatrix must be damaged! I've seen more unique fiction from Borg drones! What you've written is cliche garbage. But that's all right. We've decided to give the galaxy something to really write home about!"
- Neelix EMH: "He's not bluffing, Captain! Somehow these photonic ruffians have broken free of their story and the holodeck. And they've already begun causing trouble on Voyager and beyond!"
- Holonovel Doctor: "Be quiet unless you want to be decompiled! We're just trying to liven things up around here! Why resort to fiction when real life can be just as exciting? You can try to stop us - or join in on the fun!"
Intermission
- Author Doctor: "Thank you, Captain. My past creations have finally returned to the holonovel where they belong. Incidentally, the chaos from this incident has been so exciting that I find myself inspired. My pen can't keep up with my holomatrix, as it were."
- Captain Janeway: "I'm pleased to hear your writing is back on track, Doctor. Unfortunately, your past creations have left my crew - and their reputations - in disarray."
- Choice A
- Captain: "So not everyone understands they are a work of fiction then?"
- Captain Janeway: "I'm afraid not. There are far too many who have locked on to the salacious nature of these characters and are digging deep for any dirt on my crew to validate their suspicions."
- Captain Janeway: "At any rate, Captain, I would appreciate your help in this matter. I can't have a fully functioning crew if they're all distracted by scandal."
- Choice B
- Captain: "Isn't it the Doctor's responsibility to set the record straight?"
- Author Doctor: "I beg your pardon! I am merely a creative conduit, filtering my thoughts and experiences through words and photons. Whatever my readers wish to take from my work is completely on them."
- Captain Janeway: "At any rate, Captain, I would appreciate your help in this matter. I can't have a fully functioning crew if they're all distracted by scandal."
- Choice C
- Captain: "Could I get an autographed copy of Photons Be Free?"
- Holonovel Doctor: "Well, I suppose even cliche holo-drivel has its fans. I'm sure that self-important burst of photons would love nothing more."
- Captain Janeway: "At any rate, Captain, I would appreciate your help in this matter. I can't have a fully functioning crew if they're all distracted by scandal."
Epilogue
- Author Doctor: "Well, Captain, I suppose I should thank you. My captain and crewmates have settled down and are finally off my back. Now my only issue is all of these ridiculous notes my publisher left me. Some people just can't see true artistic genius."
