Storyline
Announcement
The temporal anomaly crisis has raised all manner of questions - and more than a few disputes. And the Federation has found themselves at the center of some of those questions. But when multiple timelines and universes are involved, who really gets to call the shots? [1]
Prologue
- CMO Bashir: "...and the treatment was helping Counselor Troi. She was finally managing T'Pol's katra just fine. And then her mother stormed in, started throwing around the word 'malpractice', and accusing me of things I won't repeat here."
- Judge Advocate Prosecutor Batel: "Unfortunately you will have to recount everything on the stand and--oh, Captain, glad you answered my hails. As I'm sure you can tell, we're overwhelmed here. Even with the help we've enlisted from other factions, the influx of court cases and legal challenges is never-ending."
- Counselor Neera Ketoul: "We have the same person from multiple time periods fighting amongst their disparate versions for who has the right to make decisions, clashes between the laws of multiple universes, and let's not even start on the issue of incorporeal rights."
- Judge Advocate Prosecutor Batel: "Well, Captain, do you think you're ready to try your hand at some paralegal work? We could use all the help we can get investigating and addressing all of these cases."
Intermission
- Control Leland: "You would hear the Discovery's computer's case for autonomy and sentience, but not mine? That's at best hypocrisy, but we all know what's really going on here."
- AGIMUS: "Of course we do! Rights for those who want to suck up the Federation and pretend to play to their values! It's clear the Federation doesn't see us all the same. Which is why we should overthrow them and seize power!"
- The Borg Queen: "Be silent. Your words are as obsolete as your hardware. We are the Borg, and by sheer number alone, our case should be heard first. Each member of the Collective should be given individual voting rights."
- Choice A
- Captain: "What's going on here?"
- Counselor Neera Ketoul: "Zora brought forth a case after being denied a position within Starfleet due to lacking 'personhood' and now it's opened the doors wide for a variety of cases regarding AI, synthetic like, Borg drones, and so on. But as you can see, it's far more than we can handle."
- Counselor Neera Ketoul: "Captain, we can handle the Borg. Do us a favor and address some of these matters revolving around synthetic life forms and artificial intelligence. Perhaps you can investigate and offer some useful solutions?"
- Choice B
- Captain: "You all really do have your hands full."
- Judge Advocate Prosecutor Batel: "That's an understatement. It's enough to hear or a handful of cases on difficult matters like sentience and self-determination for AI and synths, but the sheer amount and variety of cases following the one brought by Zora has been untenable."
- Choice C
- Captain: "Denied. You all vote the same everytime anyway."
- xxx: "xxx"
- xxx: "xxx"
Epilogue
- Counselor Neera Ketoul: "Thank you, Captain. I know that was a lot to handle and obviously there's still so much to wade through, but I appreciate you handling these matters swiftly and conscientiously."
