Storyline
Announcement
Chancellor Martok has gone missing, and in his absence, several houses are using the temporal anomaly crisis to their advantage. Given the confusion of timelines and inheritances, each house wants to claim an open seat on the Klingon High Council, and each is backed by powers outside the Empire itself. The Augments demand greater respect for Klingons affected by the augment virus, while the Ferengi have promised to move the Klingons (and themselves) into an age of economic prosperity, and the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance seeks to expand its influence to Qo’noS. How will you steer the Klingon Empire with no chancellor at its helm? [1]
Prologue
- Dahar Master Kor: "You've come to the Empire at a dire time, Captain. Chancellor Martok is missing. There are... other Martoks, of course, but this one has been our chancellor since the temporal crisis began. The Empire relied on him for what little stability it had."
- Dahar Master Kor: "Now a seat on the High Council lies empty, and with Martok gone, every upstart house from the First City to Quin'lat wants to claim it. The trouble with these temporal anomalies is that every new claim could be as legitimate as the last."
- Dahar Master Kor: "The Chancellor and I have had our differences, but he's a strong leader. Ordinarily, he would settle such a dispute...but now it falls to us to assemble the High Council for a hearing. I hope you've come prepared for a fight. Not every battle is fought with blades."
Intermezzo
- Dahar Master Kor: "Many thanks to the High Council for agreeing to hear our cases. Imperial blood gives my family the right to a Council seat, one we've been unfairly denied since our infection with the augment virus. I am here to claim that right, on behalf of my family and all those infected."
- Grilka: "Giving the seat to this old warrior means tying ourselves to the past. Times are changing, and the Empire must change with them. If I am made councilor, the Ferengi Alliance has promised to ally with us, a partnership that would move us forward into an age of prosperity."
- Klingon Neelix: "This is all very interesting, but you're forgetting the House of Mogh. Regent Worf's House of Mogh, that is. I know we're from another timeline, but we're still from Qo'noS! Don't the Regent's subjects deserve a voice on the only version of their homeworld they can reach?"
- choice A
- Captain: "Even if you win the seat, Kor, will the High Council truly respect you?"
- Dahar Master Kor: "That's the beauty of the High Council, Captain. Being named councilor is a great honor in its own right. If they treat me or any of my Augmented fellows with disrespect, they would disgrace themselves more than us."
- choice B
- Captain: "Do you trust the Ferengi to help the Empire, Grilka, or just themselves?"
- Grilka: "I've had my share of dealings with them in the past. They may not be warriors, but they're clever–especially when money is at stake. By tying their profits to our own, I'll give them every reason to ensure that both our peoples prosper."
- choice C
- Captain: "Are you claiming this seat for yourself or Regent Worf, Neelix?"
- Klingon Neelix: "As a sworn member of the Regent's house, I can claim the seat with his approval. He's too busy running the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance to deal with Qo'noS personally, but I would speak for him on the Council."
- Dahar Master Kor: "The High Council will take its time considering all our cases, but they aren't immune to flattery. If you have anything to say that might change their minds, Captain, now is the time."
Epilogue
- Klingon Neelix: "I'm glad you sided with us on this one, Captain. I had my own doubts about Regent Worf when we first met, but he's a more reasonable man than you might think. A less reasonable one would be trying to conquer Qo'noS outright, but instead, here we are."
- Klingon Neelix: "It'll do the Alliance good to have a representative on their homeworld–maybe even a chance for some of our warriors to visit it themselves. Who knows? This could be the start of a more brotherly relationship between our people and the Empire."
- Klingon Neelix: "But, ah, speaking of brothers, I hear your Commander Worf is still searching for Chancellor Martok. It doesn't seem like him to disappear with the Empire in the state it is now. I hope he's alright...wherever he is."
