Storyline
Announcement
Your investigation into Neelix’s disappearance has revealed that, wherever he is, he may not look or act like himself anymore. Whether this would be Neelix’s intentional decision or the act of another party is yet unclear, but you’ll need to research all the various ways Neelix might be disguised, and how to get around them to find him. [1]
Prologue
- Bajoran Culber: "There are a lot of ways to change someone's appearance to an entirely different species. Some of them are just projections, costumes... others are actual changes to physiology."
- Human Saru: "We should endeavor to remember that whatever species Mister Neelix may appear to be now, he remains the same person underneath--and that is the person Dexa is trying to find."
- Klingon Torres: "Enough talk. Do you want to find him or not? You say there's many ways to change one's species. Tell us what they are, so that we can start looking."
Intermission
- Dexa: "I still don't understand why anyone would do this to Neelix. He's not a bad man. At most he was a swindler in his younger days...."
- Klingon Torres: "Are you so sure someone's done this to him? Maybe he chose to disappear. Maybe he chose to change himself, and become someone else."
- Choice A
- Captain: "That's hardly helpful right now, Torres."
- no extra dialogue, go to Dexa's final response
- Choice B
- Captain: "You sound like you're speaking from experience."
- Klingon Torres: "I didn't choose to exist. But my existence seems far simpler than being half one thing and half another. Less complicated."
- Choice C
- Captain: "If I were Neelix, I would want to be someone else."
- Dexa: "By the Guiding Tree, I wish I had a third path right now. Or any path that didn't involve the heartless creatures of Starfleet."
- Dexa: "I know Neelix didn't choose this. And if we don't find him, there might be others who disappear next. We need to find him, whatever he might look like now. I'll help guide you however I can."
Epilogue
- Bajoran Culber: "We've got several physiological identifiers, keyed to Neelix's original DNA and mental synapses. Whatever he looks like now, however he's been changed, I think we'll safely know him when we see him."
- Human Saru: "We will continue the search, and also investigate whether similar disappearances have occurred elsewhere. Dex made an important point when she said Neelix might not be the first, or the last."
- Klingon Torres: "Just don't be surprised if the Neelix you remember isn't the one you find. And if you care for him so much, I hope you will care for him even if you find that he prefers who he is now--and does not want to go back."
