Storyline
Announcement
Just as the crew of Arctic-One revealed, Unimatrix Zero has reappeared. However, this iteration is not limited to recharging Borg drones. Augments, cybernetically engineered humans - anyone with the proper technology - are all finding themselves whisked off to Unimatrix Zero each night. And when they awaken, they feel less and less like themselves. Investigate the situation. [1]
Prologue
- Axum: "Thank you for allowing us to reach out via holo-communicator. I'm able to appear in Unimatrix Zero like this — without my implants - and this is how I wanted you to see me."
- Axum: "Yes, you heard right. Unimatrix Zero has returned. And though we are all happy to be reunited, something doesn't seem right. The population has ballooned. And though many don't retain their memories, we've gathered enough to suggest most of the new inhabitants aren't drones."
- Annika Hansen Seven: "We are uncertain where they have come from or how they've managed to enter Unimatrix Zero, let alone why it has reappeared. That is why we would like you to bring some of your crew members and aid us in the investigation."
Intermission
- Six of Ten: "l have managed to pinpoint several of the individuals using the readings provided. As suspected, they are not aboard Borg vessels. Upon further investigation, it seems many of them do have cybernetic implants or other similar augmentations."
- Annika Hansen Seven: "As I thought. So the implants are a common factor. Most of the individuals I spoke with seem to lose most of their memories between the sleeping and waking world. But a few noted that they have been feeling negative impacts in their waking lives."
- Choice A:
- Captain: ""Negative impacts?"
- Annika Hansen Seven: "The most common complaint is that they are 'more tired'. A few have reported decreased ability to concentrate, headaches, and eye pain. But the most troubling is that a few have reported hearing voices..."
- Choice B:
- Captain: "What is the relationship between the implants and Unimatrix Zero?"
- Annika Hansen Seven: "We are still uncertain. One would think the implants are connecting them to Unimatrix Zero, but that still leaves far too many questions. How were they identified? How is it reaching them?"
- Choice C:
- Captain: "How did you manage to find them outside of Unimatrix Zero?"
- Six of Ten: "You don't need to worry, this old general has his ways. ...though some of the information you provided may have made it slightly easier."
- Axum: "There's still so much we don't know. But I'm hoping you can help us fill in the blanks outside Unimatrix Zero, Captain."
Epilogue
- Six of Ten: "Honorable performance, Captain. I suppose we were right to bring you in after all. Still, to think the site where our rebellion was born is being toyed with..."
- Axum: "I understand your frustration, Korok. We can't give up, though. We'll find out who's behind this. And we will persevere."
