Storyline
Announcement
Wanting to make further amends for the years he spent working for the Orion against the best interests of his people, Kyheem has partnered with Captain Burnham to try and use the Kwejians’ unique abilities to help heal other environmentally ravaged worlds. But the worst of these are controlled by factions that have never prioritized conservation or environmental health. Can you find a way to utilize the Kwejians’ abilities, and then convince the owners of these worlds to allow them to be healed? [1]
Prologue
- Steward Kyheem: "Kwejian is healed... but after what I helped do it for so long, it doesn't feel like enough. Michael thinks we could help other worlds, but I'm not so sure."
- Captain Burnham: "I know you can. I've seen Book do it. If you really want to make amends to your people, to yourself, you have to make bold moves. If the Kwejian could help heal other worlds out there, it could mean more allies for you, maybe even the Federation membership someday."
- Steward Kyheem: "Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Captain. You two show me the Kewjian can do this--without it backfiring, and then we'll get to work."
Intermission
- Steward Kyheem: "I'm no scientist, but I've got eyes. More than that, I can feel the life we could bring back to these worlds. I'm game, Michael. What's next?"
- Captain Burnham: "Unfortunately, it looks like politics. We've got the will and a way to help, but a number of factions aren't so enthusiastic about accepting it."
- Choice A
- Captain: "I'm certain we could convince them. We've got science behind us."
- Go to Burnham's line "Diplomacy..."
- Choice B
- Captain: "Why the hesitation? Where's the downside?"
- Steward Kyheem: "When you've gotten used to your damaged world, rebuilt your lives around that damage, it's hard to see changing that as an upside."
- Choice C
- Captain: "Why give them a choice? Heal now, ask forgiveness later."
- Steward Kyheem: "I'm no politician either, but that's going to seriously backfire. You can't roll into town and tell people how it's going to be. That makes you conquerors, not allies."
- Captain Burnham: "Diplomacy is the order of the day. We're going to show the Cardassians, the Dominion, even the Ferengi that healing these worlds is the right path forward."
Epilogue
- Captain Burnham: "The Cardassians owe reparations to just about everyone. We convinced them that partnering with the Kwejian given them the credit without actually making the payment. Sometimes you have to meet you opponent on their level to win."
- Steward Kyheem: "Helping each of these damaged worlds... it's not just healing them, it's healing me. Balance is happening, and it feels right. Thank you, Michael. Thank you, Captain."
