Storyline
Announcement
Temporal agents from the future are kidnapping babies throughout time and space to ensure they never become the pivotal figures of history that they were born to be. Given that these are babies, special care must be taken in their rescue and finding a way to stop these temporal agents without causing any harm. But you’ll have to navigate between the demands of several factions demanding that their bouncing bundles of joy be given first priority! [1]
Prologue
- Century Nurse Crusher: "I think the worst thing about this crisis isn't the unpredictable anomalies, but the totally predictable bad actors taking advantage of it. Now we've got temporal agents preying on the most vulnerable: newborns."
- Midwife Worf: "These agents seek to permanently alter the history of certain species by kidnapping infants who will grow up to become historically important figures. You are not to worry, I will use caution. I completed a holodeck training course on infant care."
- Doctor La Forge: "While Doctor Crusher and Worf's task force works on getting the babies safely away from the temporal agents, I'll be working on a way to stop them. Our arms are full, Captain, and we could sure use some help."
Intermission
- Midwife Worf: "Do all human infants squall so much? It is a wonder your species has survived for so long."
- Century Nurse Crusher: "I think you'd find that if you had Alexander as an infant, he would have squalled just as much. But I admit, I'm exhausted."
- Century Nurse Crusher: "And it's only getting more complicated. Starfleet is now getting requests from many member worlds--and non-member worlds--to prioritize their missing babies first."
- Choice A
- Captain: "Are these babies--err, future adults--that important?"
- Century Nurse Crusher: "The great Kahless was that important. The Klingon Empire would not exist without him. I can well believe there are others of such import."
- Choice B
- Captain: "How are we coming on stopping these temporal agents?"
- Doctor La Forge: "I'm making headway on stopping these kidnappings altogether. If I can predict where these agents might be headed, I can disrupt their travel, preventing them from ever reaching a baby."
- Choice C
- Captain: "Earth first, Federation second, everyone else third."
- Century Nurse Crusher: "Now wait a minute, we're all connected. Our history is as much dependent on the actions of others as it is on our own."
- Century Nurse Crusher: "Oh, there they go again... I told you all to keep it down! If you want to prioritize someone, Captain, it's your decision. I have too many infants to rock back to sleep."
Epilogue
- Doctor La Forge: "By isolating the temporal agents' chronitonal signature, we were able to identify them en route to their next target--and disrupt their travel before they reached. The historically important infants of the universe are safe. "
- Midwife Worf: "On a personal note, Captain, I would like to thank you for prioritizing the Klingon Empire's young. Our society is built upon our mythic figures. Some may see this as a weakness, but I see it as a strength. Doctor Crusher was right, however, about the squalling."
