Storyline
Announcement
With the galaxy more tense than ever, the Dove has been booked solid for months. But a hostile takeover of the vessel is doing nothing to bring stress within Starfleet under control. [1]
Prologue
- Mint Julep McCoy: "How do you like this? Jim says I'm tense, pulls rank and ships me off to this...sham of a ship. It's all a bunch of pseudoscience if you ask me. Not real shore leave. But fine, I'll play along. And then we get hijacked!"
- Fly-Fishing M'Benga: "Doctor McCoy, I can't tell if you're more upset about the hijacking or the treatments you refer to as 'pseudoscience'. Still, Captain, we have been boarded. The Dove staff strove to keep us safe, but they are not equipped to handle something like this."
- Tourist Hoshi Sato: "Being Starfleet officers, we've tried to help as we can. Right now, we're trying to keep the other clients here safe and calm. The hijackers said something about entities like The Dove making Starfleet soft, but we don't know much beyond that."
- Mint Julep McCoy: "And I'd prefer not to find out. We could use a little respite over here, Captain."
Intermission
- Pascal Fullerton: "You may have chased me off the bridge of The Dove, but you will regret it later. Starfleet is unprepared for what's to come. Your best and brightest need to be training, preparing - not being pampered!"
- Fly-Fishing M'Benga: "A well-rested, well-cared-for force is always better than one worked to the brink of exhaustion. And your threats are vague, clearly seeking only to stir up fear and anxiety. What is it that is 'to come' that we should all be on edge for?"
- Choice A:
- Captain: "Yes, what is 'to come'?"
- Pascal Fullerton: "Starfleet knows. That you don't only cements the fact that Starfleet has left its people truly unprepared."
- Choice B:
- Captain: "If there is imminent danger, should we not let our crews rest up?"
- Pascal Fullerton: "If they are healthy, they shouldn't need to 'rest up'. Starfleet has gone soft. These recruits now don't know what it is to handle a long campaign, to see real, long-term conflict like the Dominion War."
- Choice C:
- Captain: "You sound like you could use a good vacation yourself."
- Pascal Fullerton: "My relief will come when Starfleet and the Federation are back on track."
- Tourist Hoshi Sato: "Looks like he's gone. Thankfully. But let's just say the stress level here is off the charts. Think you might like to take a little break of your own and help us out, Captain?"
Epilogue
- Mint Julep McCoy: "Nice work, Captain. I have to admit, I was skeptical about this whole thing, but I suppose if I'm going to be prescribing shore leave, I ought to accept when it's prescribed for me."
- Fly-Fishing M'Benga: "Now that sounds more like it. The Dove really is the pinnacle of relaxation, if we can set aside this particular incident. Still, Fullerton's words trouble me. I do not believe this is over yet"
