Storyline
Announcement
After a research crew studying an abandoned Species 8472 bioship goes missing, it’s up to your crew to investigate what befell them. [1]
Prologue
- Infected Tryla Scott: "Captain, Starfleet Command has new orders for you. Start making your way through the Beta Quadrant. Lieutenant Commander Spock will fill you in along the way."
- Lt. Commander Spock: "Thank you, Captain Scott. A research crew investigating a bio-ship believed to belong to Species 8472 has vanished. They left a communication log and it is the increasingly desperate nature of that log that prompts us to move quickly."
- Lt. Commander MacDougal: "Desperate nature? That log was terrifying, especially toward the end. I would almost say we're lucky it was so scrambled and damaged. I don't wanna be able to see and hear that kind of carnage clearly! I mean--"
- Lt. Commander Spock: "Ahem. Yes, unscrambling those latter logs will be part of your task. Human through you are, I hope you can endure, Captain. We are counting on you to solve this mystery."
Intermission
- Arjin: "Thank you for finding me. I was a member of the research crew investigating the bio-ship at Starfleet Command's behest. And…it appears I may be the only survivor. Investigating a living ship belonging to a species even the Borg is terrified of was a bad idea from the start."
- Arjin: "But no matter how much we insisted, Command refused to listen. Everything was going fine and then…these creatures...they were everywhere. It all happened so fast. I ran for a shuttlepod, but...I was the only one who made it out."
- Choice A:
- Captain: "What were these creatures?"
- Arjin: ""At first, we were unsure. Were they somehow related to Species 8472? No, they were a fraction of the size and they appeared to be reproducing at an exponential rate. They were more like parasitic worms…"
- Choice B:
- Captain: "You were attacked? By the creatures or by the ship?"
- Arjin: "Both, essentially. The bio-ship's defenses are living. Like a Venus flytrap is When it snaps shut over its prey. Trying to evade the ship we had socarefully journeyed into proved to be a danger all its own."
- Choice C:
- Captain: "Who at Starfleet Command sent you?"
- Arjin: "She was a captain, which was strange in and of itself. Somehow she had wedged herself into our research on using organic technology with Starfleet vessels. Let's see. Scott. Yes. Captain Tryla Scott."
- Lt. Commander MacDougal: ""It sounds like Arjin and the rest of the research crew went through quite an ordeal. The Species 8472 crew that originally piloted the ship too. Let's keep investigating, Captain. The truth can't be far from our grasp.""
Epilogue
- Lt. Commander MacDougal: "Nice work, Captain. There were a couple of close calls there, but it looks like you managed to shed some light on what happened to that crew. Though, to be honest, I'm not exactly looking forward to securing that ship for transport."
- Lt. Commander Spock: "That is part of our mission. We cannot leave it here, especially when considering the dangerous capabilities of the bio-ship itself, even without the guidance of a crew. But I cannot imagine Starfleet would want us to bring such a dangerous vessel back to Earth."
- Infected Tryla Scott: "That is precisely what we want, Mr. Spock. Bring the bio-ship back with you as instructed."
