Storyline
Announcement
More and more people are beginning to question the “end” of the temporal anomaly crisis. Work with renowned and revived scientists to determine who would have the power to fake such an event and why, while working against those who would rather live in a fake paradise than a difficult reality.
Prologue
- Warship Yar: "It seems the people questioning this reality the most are the people who aren't supposed to be here at all. Doctor Marcus believes he has actual proof the temporal anomaly crisis hasn't really ended."
- Dr. David Marcus: "I've been studying my own physiology. To your eyes, I appear to be the real David Marcus... but I'm not. Neither is Yar, K'Ehleyr, Gray, or Mike Burnham. We're something else."
- Michael Burnham Sr.: "What yet, we don't know. And we never will, if Starfleet gets their way. Whoever's in charge there now doesn't like us questioning their happy ending, and shut down our research. We'll need your help if we're going to get to the bottom of this."
Intermission
- Kevin Uxbridge: "The chaos has been calmed. The fear and panic and problems are gone. Time is an arrow again. Why would you question this? Even if it isn't real, why wouldn't you want it to be?"
- Dr. David Marcus: "This being... he's not human. His readings are off the charts. Like something you'd see on a Q, or a Cytherian, or a--"
- Michael Burnham Sr.: "A douwd. There's records on this fellow. They have power on a galactic scale, enough to make an entire species vanish in the blink of an eye."
- Choice A
- Captain: "What about end the temporal anomaly crisis?"
- Michael Burnham Sr.: "No, for all their power, even the Douwd can't do that."
- Michael Burnham Sr.: "Captain Picard and his crew encountered Uxbridge when investigating an attack on his colony. They discovered Uxbridge's wife died in the attack, and Uxbridge used his power to commit genocide against the species that attacked."
- Choice B
- Captain: "What records? Who encountered this being before?"
- Michael Burnham Sr.: "Captain Picard and his crew encountered Uxbridge when investigating an attack on his colony. They discovered Uxbridge's wife died in the attack, and Uxbridge used his power to commit genocide against the species that attacked."
- Choice C
- Captain: "Now you tell us. We've been suffering for years!"
- Michael Burnham Sr.: "Something even more interesting about the Douwd, they can manipulate minds and create perfect illusions. Well, near-perfect, anyway."
- Kevin Uxbridge: "He's gone. And I didn't even need to snap my fingers. I can make all of them go away, make everyone miserable again, if that's what you really want. But I don't think you do."
- Dr. David Marcus: "I don't want to be dead... but am I really alive, if I'm just an illusion he's created? We have to keep going, Captain. We have to prove to Uxbridge that this fantasyland isn't a real solution."
Epilogue
- Klingon K'Ehleyr: "You see, Douwd? If chaos is our lot, then we will face it bravely... and find our way out of the storm on our own. We reject your false paradise!"
- Kevin Uxbridge: "My illusions were too accurate. They act as their flesh and blood counterparts would have, with honor and integrity. Fine, I will undo my illusions. All will be as it was--chaos and storm."
- Kevin Uxbridge: "But I will not kill again, not even an illusion. I will restrict my paradise to a single planet. There, anyone who wishes a break from this struggle, who wants to see their loved ones again, can have that experience... even if it isn't real."
- Michael Burnham Sr.: "A new Convergence Day tradition, maybe. The truth hurts, but it's always better than lies. And I say that as one of those lies. Until next year, Captain, unless you've solved this crisis for real by then. If anyone can, it's you...."
