Storyline
Announcement
Grebnedlog the Pakled has reemerged with his crew aboard the Mondor, this time ready to show the Federation his peoples’ might and intellectual prowess… if only they could figure out how to get their ship off the asteroid it’s stranded on! [1]
Prologue
- Grebnedlog: "We are strong. We will show you. We need help. But we are Strong."
- Determined Paris: "Yeah, they're so strong that they managed to get themselves stranded on an asteroid, and need Starfleet to rescue them."
- Professor Scott: "Stronger than we are, my boy. They've made it this far despite their deficiencies, and you can't help but admire their bold-faced confidence, even when they have nothing."
- Professor Scott: "Of course we'll help them, but that first bit, about being strong and showing us... I might call that a threat. We should rule that out first, before we get them flying again."
Intermission
- Grebnedlog: "You see we are strong. Make us go. We will spare you."
- Determined Paris: "The Pakled aren't friends, they're scavengers. The last time they encountered the Federation, they kidnapped the flagship's chief engineer. Why shouldn't we just leave them on the asteroid?"
- Choice A
- Captain: "Because that's not the Federation way. We can't leave them to die."
- Determined Paris: "I wasn't suggesting leaving anyone to die. But it's time they learned how to do something for themselves."
- Choice B
- Captain: "That worked out well for Kirk and Khan Nonnien Singh, as I recall."
- Determined Paris: "Even if we made them our enemies, what threat could they possibly be?"
- Choice C
- Captain: "I agree. I know I definitely have better things to do."
- Professor Scott: "I don't know about you two, but I joined Starfleet to explore and discover. The Pakled are some of the most interesting people I've met in a while. There's something to be learned from everyone, no matter how they might appear on the surface."
- Professor Scott: "We promised to help Grebnedlog fix his ship, and we've got to finish that mission. We don't have to shoulder the burden ourselves, others are willing to help... but I don't know that they're the kind I want influencing the Pakled...."
Epilogue
- Determined Paris: "The Mondor's spaceworthy again. I hope this means you don't plan to show us your strength anymore."
- Grebnedlog: "We have what we need. We can go. Thank you."
- Professor Scott: "Remember, Thomas, there's nothing wrong with asking for help. That's what Starfleet's here for. The Pakled could have been a bit more polite about it--and perhaps they will be, next time, now that we've shown them we're friends."
