Announcement
With a confluence of ships from every era, the Ferengi and Slug-O-Cola have seized the opportunity to create another welcome distraction from the pain of the temporal anomaly crisis. Can your sponsored ship win the Lightyear 3000? [1]
Prologue
- Tuskegee Mayweather: "'The First Annual Lightyear 3000, Sponsored by Slug-O-Cola: A Race Against Time to Find the Fastest in History.' I wish we had made first contact with the Ferengi in my time. They know how to make the most of a bad situation."
- Delta Flyer Kim: "This could all get fixed tomorrow, which would be wonderful... but when are we going to get the chance to see so many ships from so many eras flying around together again? I'll put the Delta Flyer up against any of them. What about you, Captain? Say you'll join the race!"
- Gabrielle Burnham: "Or, say you're obviously too busy trying to resolve a crisis that's caused untold heartache to millions of people. This is no time for some ridiculous Ferengi cash-in. We all have jobs to do, people depending on us. Time isn't going to fix itself...."
Intermission
- Delta Flyer Kim: "Your ship's really coming along, Captain. I still wouldn't put my latinum on anything other than the Delta Flyer, but it's nice to see she'll have some competition, if only for a few minutes."
- Gabrielle Burnham: "I'm beginning to see why you never made it past ensign, Ensign. So much effort and talent wasted on a stupid race. If you all focused on your jobs instead of distractions, we could end the temporal anomaly crisis."
- Choice A
- Captain: "We've spent the last four years trying. This might be permanent."
- Gabrielle Burnham: "With that attitude, it will be."
- Choice B
- Captain: "Morale is just as important as effort--maybe more."
- Delta Flyer Kim: "You just got to this timeline, Gabrielle. You haven't been living with it for years like we have. People are exhausted. They need something that makes the best of this mess once in a while."
- Choice C
- Captain: "Gabrielle's right. What's the point, other than lining Ferengi pockets?"
- Tuskegee Mayweather: "A lot of people said the Space Race was a silly waste of time and resources. But without it, none of us would be here. Countless scientific breakthroughs wouldn't have happened. They're happening right now, again, because of this race. Please, Captain--see it through."
Epilogue
- Delta Flyer Kim: "Congratulations, Captain! You're the first winner of the Lightyear 3000! I can't believe anyone beat the Delta Flyer... looks like we've got some work to do if we're going to win next year."
- Gabrielle Burnham: "Who says you're going to win? I can wear my ship, you know."
- Tuskegee Mayweather: "So we've won you over on the need for escapism?"
- Gabrielle Burnham: "I admit to enjoying myself, a little. And if this is what gets people motivated to work harder to solve our problems, then I'm all for it. Thank you for leading by example, Captain--even when certain people tried to stop you."
