Storyline
Announcement
When the Enterprise answers a distress call from a damaged Romulan warp-class shuttlecraft, a human man is beamed aboard the Enterprise to sick bay as the shuttle explodes. He was searching for Eden, the ultimate paradise planet, and escaped the Romulans who had captured them. [1]
Prologue
- Christine Chapel: "Captain, we heard a distress call, found this lone human aboard a damaged Romulan shuttlecraft, and beamed him directly to sick bay. Oh, look, the patient is awake! You're safe, sir. You're aboard the USS Enterprise. Do you remember anything before you lost consciousness?"
- Altor: "My name is Altor. I'm a priest. I was looking for Eden, the storied garden of creation. I was captured by the Romulans, and escaped. I must continue my search. It is of vital importance!"
- Seeking Spock: "Fascinating. The Enterprise once encountered a group -- the crew of a ship called the Aurora -- who was also looking for Eden. We never knew whether they found it... Nurse, the ship has gone to Red Alert. Altor, it looks as though the Romulans have followed you."
- Commander Keras: "USS Enterprise, we have you at our mercy. I am Commander Keras. You have an escaped prisoner of ours, who stole one of our shuttles. Return him to us immediately, and there will be no consequences. Fail to return him, and the results will be...unfortunate."

- Captain James T. Kirk: "He was horribly injured in an accident. The residents of Antos IV nursed him to health. Garth's brain was never the same, however. He retained his cleverness, but lost his morality. He committed genocide against those who had healed him, annihilating the entire species."
- Choice C:

- Seeking Spock: "It is logical to assume that Garth remains genocidal. If he is going to Eden, then his altered psyche would likely see Eden as the ultimate world to conquer and rule. Should he find it, any inhabitant would be in the greatest of danger."
- Lieutenant Chekov: "Captain! One of our shuttles has left the shuttle bay!"
- Captain James T. Kirk: "Well, we have our answer. Mister Sulu, set a course. Pursue that shuttle! Captain, it seems your presence here is fortuitous. I'll go to sick bay to check on Nurse Chapel. You make sure we get our shuttle back! Mister Spock, come with me."
Epilogue
- Lieutenant Sulu: "Captain, it appears that Garth has escaped. He is heading toward the Gamma Quadrant."
- Captain James T. Kirk: "Remain in pursuit, Mister Sulu. I will work on trying to find out where he could be headed. Mister Chekov? You seem upset. What's on your mind?"
- Lieutenant Chekov: "My old friend, Captain. Irina Galliulin, from the Aurora. I wonder if they ever found Eden. And whether Garth is about to find her. I hope she is alright."
- Captain James T. Kirk: "I remember Mister Spock telling the Aurora's crew that if they could find Eden, they should find a place where they could build their own. They might not be in danger, but we don't know where Garth is headed. I intend to find out!"
