Storyline
Announcement
Outgunned and outmaneuvered, ships across the Federation are sending out distress calls, many of them haunting last records of desperate battles with a nimble new enemy. [1]
Prologue
- Battle Beverly Crusher: "This is the Enterprise-D, requesting assistance. We've been repeatedly attacked by a mysterious vessel. No designation that we can find. It's small, but deadly. They are fully armed and many of their weapons are unlike anything we‘ve ever seen."
- Tallinn: "That sounds like it may be the same vessel attacking other Federation ships across the galaxy. Appearing almost out of thin air, launching a swift and often deadly attack, and then vanishing just as it came. Even I have been able to gather limited information on it."
- Battle Beverly Crusher: "The "often deadly' part does little to inspire any confidence. But if you can offer any help, we'd love to turn the tables on this insidious little pest!"
Intermission
- Vadic: "The Federation. Like insects, all of you. I should have known that if I swatted one of you, two more would appear. That's all right. l'll reach your little hive before too long. Then annihilating the rest of you will be all too easy."
- Tallinn: "What is it you want? Who do you work for? And why are you attacking Federation ships?"
- Vadic: "You speak as if I'm the one who started this. No. Your Federation started this, when it took my brothers, sisters, and l and tormented us for its own selfish means. I serve only the interests of those of us so grievously wronged. And now, you all will reap what you have sown."
- Choice A:
- Captain: "You have grievances with the Federation? Surely there are better ways of addressing them."
- Vadic: "Typical. And you don't think the Federation had better ways of handling their war with the Dominion? Was it necessary for them to do this to us? So they could use us against our own!?"
- Choice B:
- Captain: "So you think you can take the Federation all by yourself?"
- Vadic: "I don't merely 'think' I can, Captain. Ask that Romulan there. The Shrike's record speaks for itself. l am only getting started."
- Choice C:
- Captain: "What do you get out of all of this?"
- Vadic: "What do I get out of this? Why, revenge, Captain. Is there anything better?"
- Tallinn: "This Changeling clearly has no further interest in discussion. Captain, don't let the Shrike escape! We need to find a way to put an end to its onslaught for good!"
Epilogue
- Battle Beverly Crusher: "Thank you, Captain. Because of your quick thinking, the Shrike is done for. That was a close one though. Too close. We'll need to set a course for the nearest repair station immediately"
- Tallinn: "I am glad the crew of the Enterprise-D is all right. And you did well, Captain, but don't let your guard down. That Changeling clearly wasn't operating alone. I don't think this is over quite yet."
