Storyline
Announcement
Moll has made her challenge and the clock is ticking! The chase is on, but Discovery has an edge via the spore drive. However, they’re shocked to encounter other vessels when they jump. Has the secret of the mycelial network finally been found out?[1]
Prologue
- Moll: "You all have not heard of me, but I promise you, you'll never forget my name after today. I know all about you all though. And I don't care. About any of you. Or your temporal anomaly crisis. I'm here for one thing. And it will be mine. Stay out of my way and you'll be fine."
- Q'Mau Burnham: "There's no way we can do that. Captain, I don't have much time to fill you in, but what Moll wants is nothing less than the power to alter fate itself. Despite what she says, she poses a major threat. We jumped to pursue her, but we're stuck in the mycelial network."
- New Eden Owosekun: "And we aren't alone. Several other ships have surfaced here inside the mycelial network. We don't know how they got inside, but it's as if the network is fighting back against the unexpected invasion."
- EV Suit Rhys: "It's literally eating away at our hull. If it keeps going, there'll be nothing left to protect us. We can't leave and risk losing Moll. We think we can make an opening like she did, but we need a little firepower to draw the intruders out."
Intermission
- Moll: "Unbelievable. The Federation says it wants to help everyone. Yet, it keeps something so useful as a secret method of travel to itself. Your little secret has been exposed, and these crews will ensure it becomes available to everyone."
- Q'Mau Burnham: "Damnit, she gave us the slip. And she's left even more obstacles in our path. More ships are trying to force their way back into the network. As a result, the network is fighting back even harder."
- New Eden Owosekun:
"I hate to think about what this could mean for the fabric of space. The network's attack on these ships has destroyed a few and yet they keep trying to enter. Idiots!"
- Choice A
- Captain: "How did Moll even get in? How are these others getting in?"
- New Eden Owosekun: "I'm still not sure about Moll. We have our suspicions though. As for the others, Moll seems to have created a hole by way of an anomaly once she was in. Then, of course, there's the hole we created to get rid of the intruders! I think both will close - we just need time!"
- Choice B
- Captain: "What exactly is the network doing to fight back?"
- EV Suit Rhys: "I don't know how strong your stomach is, Captain, so I'd rather not describe what we found on the remains of one ship. All I'll say is that it's like an immune system waging war on harmful cells."
- Choice C
- Captain: "Wait, can I have a spore drive?"
- Q'Mau Burnham: "Is this really the time for that? Help us to secure the network and maybe, maybe, we'll talk."
- Moll: "Unbelievable. The Federation says it wants to help everyone. Yet, it keeps something so useful as a secret method of travel to itself. Your little secret has been exposed, and these crews will ensure it becomes available to everyone."
Epilogue
- EV Suit Rhys: "You did it, Captain, and not a moment too soon! The mycelial network seems to have settled down. Now we can hopefully get the Discovery repaired so we can catch up to the others-"
- New Eden Owosekun: "Hopefully Burnham and Book can stay on her tail. But I'm ready to get out of here as soon as we can. What we saw here will live in my nightmares for months to come."
