Command Diplomacy Several holograms stow away aboard an Augment ship, pleading for aid. The Augments are fairly unmoved by the holograms' plight and insist you sort it out. Your away team upgrades their holo emitters and finds a safe haven for them until a more permanent solution can be found. Your away team tries to fly the holograms away to somewhere safe, but their holo emitters begin to malfunction.

Security With the increased mental prowess of the Augments comes increased ambition. Their dreams and fantasies are numerous and grandiose and the machine, finding them overly taxing, begs for your help. Your away team upgrades the machine, both to handle the wishes and to be able to prioritize which ones to grant and which ones to leave for now. Your away team attempts to visit the surface of Elpis V, but they are intercepted and chased off by the Augments, who are afraid they might try to wake them from their dreams.

Arik Soong begins working on a way to communicate with the dream machine on its preferred level - telepathy. He asks for your help. With the dream machine still hesitant to give away its technology, you work with Soong to retool existing technology until you forge an implant that allows for two-way communication. Your away team tries to convince the dream machine to aid them in crafting the new technology, but the machine raises the planet's defenses and runs your team off.

Several Augments decide that they should be allowed to make Elpis V their home, and they'll use force if need be. Step in to mediate. Your away team manages to calm the Augments ambitions and to get them to meet with the dream machine before just setting up homes anywhere. They reluctantly agree to the meeting. Your away team tries to intervene, but the Augments run them off.

The Augments have decided to make their own dreams come true - by granting themselves unlimited access to the dream machine. Intervene before they break the machine. Your away team intervenes just as several Augments are headed to the dream machine's main console to investigate it with a set of power tools. They manage to convince the Augments to back down for now. By the time Your away team arrives, the Augments have already begun dismantling the machine.

The Augments decide to use Elpis V as a backdrop for an unforgettable competition. A chance for each Augment to demonstrate their own skill in strength, intellect, and more. And they have chosen the dream machine as the judge and you as the referee. With the clashing of such big egos, disputes naturally break out, but you manage to keep everything calm for the most part. The dream machine seems intrigued by the Augments and their capabilities. Several fights break out and the whole thing quickly becomes more than you or your team can handle.

With the barely livable state of Ceti Alpha V, Khan asks you to investigate Elpis V and learn how its climate is so welcoming to so many different species - and how that might be applied on other worlds. As Elpis V's atmosphere is manipulated on the atomic level to be comfortable to each visitor, you talk with the dream machine. While it is reluctant to give up all its secrets, it gives you information that will help make Ceti Alpha V more habitable. Your away team is unable to learn anything useful regarding the planet's peculiar properties.

One of the Augments has come to Elpis V with a very unique wish: he wishes he were not born a superhuman, but rather a normal human. But when a group of Augments come to take him back, he attacks their ship from his own. Stop his rampage. Your away team manages to intercept the Augment. You convince Khan that you will bring him back and he calls of the others. You talk with the Augment and promise not to reveal his wish to Khan. Your away team attempts to intervene, but only ends up caught in the crossfire.

There has been an uproar on the surface of Elpis V. You are sent to investigate. Your away team arrives to find the Ferengi charging each visitor a slip of latinum for their fantasy coming true. You manage to chase off the Ferengi - after you recover the latinum they charged. Your away team arrives to learn a group of Ferengi are charging a slip of latinum per fantasy fulfilled, but before they can intervene, the Ferengi point out your away team as the cause of the high prices, and your team is mobbed by angry customers.

Quark has been selling tickets to Elpis V on a "luxury vessel". But when that "luxury vessel" (in reality, a refurbished cargo ship) begins to fall apart mid-voyage, it's up to your away team to keep this dream cruise from becoming a nightmare. Your away team manages to make significant upgrades and repairs to the ship, enabling it to complete its voyage. Though some passengers demand to leave, most remain. When Quark thanks you, you assure him you'll send him he'll receive [sic] the bill. Your away team is unable to make significant repairs, requiring the entire ship's population to evacuate. For Quark, the most distressing part is when he hears the word refund.

A group of Ferengi have taken it upon themselves to control the increased traffic flow coming into Elpis V's orbit - for a fee, of course. However, their traffic control has caused several fights and the dream machine reaches out to you for help. Your away team steps in to help break up the fights and to show that their attempts to help are actually making the situation worse. It takes threatening them with a call to the FCA, but they finally back down. Your away team's attempts to deal with the Ferengi and mitigate the traffic only make things worse.

After wishing for a planet's weight in latinum, a Ferengi is outraged to learn he can't leave the planet with it. That is, until he steals several holo emitters and flees. Track him down. Your away team catches him, holo emitters on, trying to fool some Bolian merchant into believing it's real latinum. You reveal his plan and let the Bolian deal with him. Your away team attempts to catch the Ferengi, but he gets away.

Quark contends that nothing on Elpis V is any better than anything in his bar's holosuite. A visiting Ferengi looking to take a bet on those odds challenges him on that and Quark leaves you the distinguished honor of actually judging the holograms. While many facets of the Elpis V technology are still a mystery, you can clearly declare them the winner. The experience netted some valuable research, even if it upset Quark that he couldn't bribe you into lying for him with a custom Quark's mug. Your away team attempts to study the holograms of Elpis V, but the dream machine's defense mechanisms prevent this.

Rom leaves Deep Space Nine for Elpis V, insisting when he comes back, he'll make his brother's bar better and more profitable than ever. When Rom still hasn't returned in three weeks, Leeta and Nog ask you to find him. You find Rom on a beach on Elpis V, surrounded by deconstructed equipment. He raves to you all he's learned here while making his dream to learn new holo tech come true. He is shocked to learn how much time has passed, but agrees to return. You find Rom sprawled out with deconstructed holo equipment, making his wish to learn how to build holograms like Elpis B come true. But he refuses to leave with you, saying he'll go when he's done.

Pel insists the destiny of the planet be determined the old fashioned way: auctioned off to the highest bidder. But when a less than reputable individual is the highest bidder, she asks for your help. You run interference for the Ferengi, informing the individual the planet was not theirs to give. When they demand a refund, Pel is hesitant, but you manage to get the bidder's money back. The bider, a wealthy bounty hunter, doesn't take kindly to the attempt to go back on the deal. For every hour you refuse to hand over the planet, he will permanently damage one Ferengi's lobes.

Ishka and several other Ferengi women head for the surface of Elpis V. When weeks go by without a word, Quark sends you to check on them. Your away team finds Ishka and the others making a dream of their own come true - a Ferengi community with even less conservative rules than the Alliance. While you convince her to come back to ease her sons' worries, many women remain on Elpis V. Your away team arrives, but their presence alone angers Ishka, who has little faith and merely assumes they'll drag her back. She chases the away team off.

Several prominent Maquis want to settle on Elpis V, but there are protests from several factions, prompting the Maquis leaders to threaten to take it by force if they have to. Mediate the dispute. Your away team calms the Maquis leaders, then begins building the case for a new home for them while also reiterating for the Maquis that Elpis V is not theirs to seize. While not a permanent solution, it is a promising start to the discussion. Your away team tries to mediate between the Maquis, who feel they are being ganged up on, and other quadrant leaders. However your attempts at diplomacy only end up escalating things.

A retired Maquis fighter, renowned for his skills and abilities, has departed for Elpis V. When he is found, he has been de-aged decades, but when the Maquis attempt to bring him home, the rapid re-aging puts a horrible strain on his body. Help him. You study the techniques and medicine used to de-age him and realize it is temporary and requires heavy upkeep, decreasing its potency each time the medicine is administered. You help the Maquis re-age safely and he decides to leave. You attempt to de-age him like the dream machine did, but only end up damaging his DNA, and turning his skin green.

Security There is a great deal of buzz around Elpis V's flora and fauna, both current and what has gone extinct over time. Find a way to aid the study and conservation of the native life on Elpis V. Your away team uses the dream machine's databases to start a compendium of native flora and fauna, as well as giving them a head start on details of each species. The machine shares the data willingly in the name of conservation. Your away team begins the arduous task of manually cataloguing all the native species, but it proves to be more than they can handle.

Ships dropping out of warp near Elpis V are having trouble using their communication or navigational equipment. Investigate the disruption. Your away team investigates and learns it is a result of the dream machine's telepathy protocol - the protocol that allows it to read minds and grant the wishes of its visitors. You manage to develop a workaround to prevent the interference. Your away team investigates, but is unable to determine the root cause or a viable solution.

A Cardassian Gul who has been "dealing" with the Maquis exclusively learns that they are seeking to settle on Elpis V. In a rage, he threatens if they try, he will destroy the planet. Protect Elpis V and the Maquis in question. Your away team manages to calm the Gul before the situation escalates. In the interim, they begin preparing defensive measures in case he decides to make good on his threat. Your away team tries to calm the Gul's anger, but he only becomes more aggressive.

The soil on Elpis V proves to be surprisingly fertile. While this may be partially attributable to the land lying fallow so long, Maquis farmers enlist your help in studying it further and unlocking the planet's soil secrets, Your away team studies the soil and learns the dream machine's modification of the planet has extended to the soil. You are able to give the farmers some useful information. Your away team studies the soil, but fails to gain any useful insight.
The Miracle of Science Medicine Science

Command The dream machine's ability to make atmospheric alterations on a planetary level has the scientific community abuzz and some at Starfleet Medical wanting to see if this ability can be applied medically. They send you to acquire and study samples. Your away team takes some samples from Elpis V. Though it's clear the atomic alterations rapidly diminish the further one is from Elpis V, there are still many interesting discoveries made with the samples. Your away team acquires a sample to study, to find that it is rapidly changing. Before they realize what is going on, they realize their sample is changing not because of the machine, but because it's a dangerous, rapidly growing parasite!

Engineering With consideration being given to other groups moving to Elpis V, the holograms fulfilling the fantasies are upset their own status or say on the planet's future has not been considered. Work with the machine and the holograms to reach an agreement. Your away team meets with the holograms and the machine helps them craft an arrangement for a more peaceful living situation that sees the holograms treated as neighbors, not slaves. Your away team tries to mediate concerns between the holograms and the dream machine, but they are seen as less welcome mediation and more meddling nuisance.
