Martok is being held somewhere in a compound near the northernmost settlement on Qu'Vat. Its defenses are resisting your ship's scans, but an away team may be able to tap into the compound's internal sensors.
The away team memorizes the compound guards' patrol schedules and easily sneaks up to its walls. They plant a transmitter inside a hidden control panel which will relay security feeds from the compound's interior.
While looking for hidden control panels on the compound's back wall, the away team is surprised by a guard patrol. They manage to escape in one piece, but the guards appear to be increasing their patrols.

Even the stoutest of hearts cannot hold out forever, and Martok has been imprisoned for a long time. A sign could remind the chancellor that help is on its way, but it must be subtle enough not to alert his guards.
Though the compound's other systems are well-protected, the away team is able to access its lighting. They flicker the lights according to an old KDF code, one that Martok should recognize as "hold fast."

While patrolling the Qu'Vat system, the IKS Somraw has noticed activity in the prison compound. The guards are not responding to its hails, and unless someone does, the crew may beam down to investigate.
The away team mimics 22nd century KDF protocols to reply to the Somraw's hails, claiming that the prison compound is being guarded against scavengers. The Somraw departs without investigating further.
The away team responds to the Somraw in Klingon but forgets to acknowledge key 22nd century KDF protocols in their reply. Instead of investigating the compound, the Somraw begins hunting for the source of the team's transmissions.

When Martok is rescued, the High Council will want proof that he is truly himself and not another Changeling or trick. Convince his wife, Sirella, to provide a DNA sample to compare to the imprisoned Martok's DNA.
Each member of the away team slices their hand in Sirella's presence, to prove that they are not Changelings come to cause more harm to her house. Impressed by their unflinching honesty, she gives them a small lock of Martok's hair.
After having her husband replaced by a Changeling, Sirella is suspicious of anyone who comes asking for his personal belongings, let alone a DNA sample. She refuses to give the away team anything.

While visiting a nearby settlement, one of Martok's guards has gotten into a drunken brawl with the locals. If he kills any of the villagers, their deaths could have untold consequences for future timelines.
When the drunken guard's opponent is taken to the nearest medical facility, the away team secretly beams into his room and provides some treatment of their own. Thanks to their help, he will survive, and the timeline will not be disrupted.
It takes the away team some time to make themselves look Klingon enough to (i)ntervene in the brawl. By the time they pull the guard and his opponent apart, both are badly wounded and are rushed off for treatment.

The compound where Martok is being held seems to predate his recent capture. If you can steal its blueprints from the neighboring settlement, they may reveal a way to reach Martok's cell.
The away team transports into the settlements' archives after hours, leaving one member to keep watch while the others grab the prison compound's blueprints. They reveal several weak points to its structural defenses.
The away team is still searching the settlement's database for blueprints when a Klingon archivist spots them. Thinking that Starfleet is invading the colony, she sounds the alarm as the away team flees.

A group of scientists, led by Antaak, have strayed near Martok's prison while searching for biological samples. Divert the scientists before they make timeline-altering with the compound's 24th century denizens.
The away team captures a few wild targs and releases them ahead of Antaak's research group. They easily defend themselves, but the attack convinces them to head home, away from Martok's prison and its 24th century inhabitants.
The away team tries to distract Antaak and his fellow scientists with phaser fire, but the staged attack only convinces them there must be something nearby worth investigating. Their search brings them closer to the compound.

Escape Route

AND
OR

The temporal anomaly that allowed you to find Martok could also allow curious 22nd century citizens to travel to the future. Disguise the anomaly's aperture to prevent any disruptions to the timeline.
The away team rigs spatial charges with hydrogen, helium, and dust. Detonating them around the anomaly's aperture releases these harmless contents instead of explosives, hiding the anomaly inside a "cloud."
The away team attempts to make the anomaly less visible by shrinking its aperture, but the magneton pulse they use only destabilizes the anomaly. Thankfully, they shut down the pulse before the anomaly collapses.

While Martok's guards dine on freshly caught meat, they seem to be feeding their prisoner cheap ration packs from a local supplier. If you can gain access to the next shipment, you could hide tools for Martok inside.
The away team poses as Klingon merchants to sell ration packs (complete with hidden tools) to the compound's supplier. He sells them to the guards, and Martok now has a set of tools at his disposal.
The away team tries to sell their own ration packs (filled with hidden tools) to the compound's food supplier, but after tasting a sample they offer him, he dismisses their packs as inferior to his own, tastier brand.

Martok's many guards keep a close eye on their lone prisoner, too close for him to plan an escape attempt. Provide a distraction so Martok can begin working on his escape.
The away team forges letters from Klingon women in the nearby colony and addresses them to the guards. While they fight over which affections were meant for who, Martok begins weakening the bars on his cell.
The away team stages an attack on the compound's gate, but the guards see this as a rescue attempt. Several stay with Martok while the others repel the away team. Martok cannot work on his escape plan under their watch.

Realizing that Martok's captors must have reached their compound via a ship, Klingon Intelligence has asked you to search the rest of the Qu'Vat system for any signs of a hidden vessel.

The away team's search reveals radiation emissions that match a 24th century Romulan warbird. It's no longer in this system, but one thing is clear: Martok was brought to this time period by Romulans.

Klingon Intelligence operatives have spotted Martok's grandfather visiting the Qu'Vat colony. He must be kept away from the prison compound lest the guards mistake him for his grandson and take him hostage.
Disguising themselves as Klingons, the away team meets Martok's grandfather and steers him away from the compound where his grandson is being held and towards a quiet bar. He puts away a barrel of bloodwine before the end of the night.
Although disguised as Klingons, the away team forgets the finer points of Klingon culture. Their attempt to guide Martok's grandfather away from the northern end of the settlement is seen as an attack, and he proves to be as fierce as his grandson.

Klingon Intelligence has sent one of its operatives, Bo'rak, to secretly replace one of Martok's guards and aid in his escape. Help disguise Bo'rak as the man he is meant to replace, and get the original out of the way.
The away team ambushes the unlucky guard on a short patrol and, able to study him firsthand, easily disguises Bo'rak as him. When Bo'rak enters the compound, no one notices the impostor in their midst.
The away team disguises Bo'rak as the guard before actually capturing him. Once he's in their custody, they realize the flaws in their disguise, but Bo'rak is already inside the compound. He is immediately recognized as a spy.

Feeds from within the compound show Martok being subjected to some kind of neural neutralizer. Martok is beyond your reach, but sabotaging the compound's generators could spare him from this procedure.
Under the cover of a storm, the away team tosses stun grenades over the compound walls. The guards believe the storm shorted out a generator, and in the meantime, Martok is safe from whatever sinister procedure they were performing.
The away team can't get close enough to disrupt the compound's exterior generator without drawing too much attention to themselves. Inside, Martok is still being subjected to some unknown mind-altering procedure.

The daily routines of Martok's guards do not indicate who orchestrated his kidnapping or brought him to this time and place. Intercept messages to and from the compound and see if they reveal more information.

The away team monitors all subspace transmissions coming to or from the compound's vicinity and finds that a few coming into the compound use an encryption code they recognize. It belongs to the Tal Shiar.
The away team spends several days monitoring subspace transmissions to and from the compound where Martok is being held, but all are impossibly encrypted. They have no idea what information the transmissions could contain.

Shake Things Up

The closer Klingon Intelligence gets to tunneling into Martok's cell, the more they risk attracting his guards' attention. Plant explosives to mimic seismic activity and mask the sounds of the diggers' work.
The away team studies the local geology before planting their charges, careful to avoid any faultlines. They time the detonations to coincide with the diggers' work, and the guards write the sounds off as earthquake aftershocks.
The charges the away team meant to mimic seismic activity trigger an actual earthquake, collapsing a third of the tunnel to Martok's cell. His rescue will take even longer than anticipated...

The Columbia has detected the away team's ship in the Qu'Vat system and is hailing it, wondering what they are doing here. Justify the team's presence without revealing their 24th century origins, or their mission.
At first, Captain Hernandez doesn't believe the away team's claims that they are on a top secret mission from Starfleet. When they allude to orders from Section 31, however, she decides to leave them to their business.
The away team's excuses for their ship's presence only makes Captain Hernandez suspicious. When she attempts to board their ship, they are forced to flee the system until they can escape the Columbia's pursuit.

Martok's guards occasionally allow him outdoor exercise within a forcefield-enclosed courtyard. This may be your best chance to assess the chancellor's physical condition, albeit from a distance.
The away team uses a pair of binoculars to assess Martok as best they can from a distance. He is injured, but not badly, and even more significantly, he still walks with the proud stride of a man who is determined not to stay caged forever.
Squinting through binoculars, all the away team can confirm during one of Martok's outdoor exercises is that he can still stand and walk upright, although he seems to have developed a limp.

The most discreet route into Martok's cell involves tunneling into it from below, but the going has been slow. A Horta could complete the tunnel much more quickly, but the current mother Horta won't leave her nest.
The away team assigns a security detail to watch over the mother Horta's eggs while she is away. Promised that they will guard her young with their lives, the Horta agrees to help dig Martok to freedom.
The away team offers the mother Horta all the resources and riches they can think of, but although she expresses sympathy for Martok's plight, there is nothing she wants more than to stay with her clutch of eggs.

Several guards in the compound where Martok is held appear to be Klingon, but it is hard to tell from a distance whether they are from the 22nd century or the 24th. Send an away team to assess Martok's guards.
Hypersonic treatment improves the away team's hearing so they can eavesdrop on the Klingon guards. They are from 24th century houses which feel betrayed by Martok's rule, though strangely, none of them seem to be in charge of the compound...
Unable to get too close to the Klingon guards at the compound's entrance, the away team tries to amplify their own hearing. The botched procedure leaves them so sensitive to the smallest sounds that they cannot leave sickbay.
