When Romulans began to vanish, all records of them suddenly vanished as well. Gather reports from grieving loved ones and colleagues to establish exactly how many are missing, and what their names are.
The away team compiles an exhaustive database of the lost Romulans, cataloguing every detail of every interview. If the Romulans can find a way to bring their people back, this will ensure that no one is forgotten.
After a few hours of interviews, the away team is drowning in duplicated or conflicting reports of this missing friend or that vanished colleague. They have no useful data to offer those searching for the lost.

Despite the Remans pleas for help, the Romulan military refuses to believe they are affected by this crisis. In fact, some suspect this is the start of another Reman coup, unless you can prove them wrong.
The away team surveys Remus, the dark side of the planet made darker with each vanished settlement. Thanks to their photographic evidence, the Romulans reluctantly accept that the Remans are as much the victims as they are.
Romulan commanders dismiss the away team's photos of former Reman city sites as a hoax. All suggestions that they could view the Remans' plight for themselves are met with pure disdain.

The Romulans have found no connection between the missing cities, but someone with historical knowledge may know more. Track down former senator Valdore, who is in self-imposed exile since his disgrace.
The away team finds Valdore hiding out on one of Chaltok IV's moons. They convince the 21st [sic.] century Romulan that his insubordination will be pardoned if he helps research connections between the missing cities.
The away team finally reaches Valdore's hideout near Chaltok IV, but news of the chaos in his beloved empire only drives the former senator into despair. He can offer no help in solving this crisis.

A damaged Romulan satellite could be used to scan for chronitons, evidence of temporal interference with the missing cities. Send an away team to get the satellite back up and running.
The away teams gets the satellite's sensors and defenses back online, protecting it from space debris. Its scans reveal chroniton fluctuations at the sites of the vanished cities, suggesting temporal interference.
As they clamber across the Romulan satellite in EV suits, the away team is bombarded by space debris and nearly knocked loose. The satellite is damaged further in this encounter, and they can't get it operational.

Many Romulan senators oppose the idea of aid from other governments like the Federation. Establish security protocols for any humanitarian visitors to calm the senators' fears of infiltration.
The away team works with the Tal Shiar to ensure that any non-Romulans bringing aid to the Empire are given appropriate security passes. These should keep them out of confidential databases and secure areas.
Despite the away team's proposed protocols, most senators aren't convinced to let more humanitarian aid come to Romulus. Apart from a few select diplomats, non-Romulan visitors are turned away.

Most first-hand witnesses who saw the cities vanish are too traumatized to describe the event. Guide them through Vulcan meditation techniques to safely unlock whatever clues their memories might hold.
Under the away team's guided meditation, Romulan after Romulan describes the moment they saw the cities vanish. All agree that it happened in an instant, without a sound, which shortens the list of possible causes.
Some Romulan witnesses begin making progress with Vulcan meditation, but when they learn its origins, they refuse to continue. Whatever memories they have of the cities' disappearance remain locked away in their minds.

Once a patient on Tantalus V, Lethe is now a therapist herself. She's willing to counsel Romulans whose friends are among the missing if you can fill her in on the finer points of Romulan social customs.
The away team helps Lethe understand Romulan conversational habits well enough that she can tell when her patients are not just lying to her, but to themselves. Under her care, they slowly begin to cope with this crisis.
The away team's inaccurate explanation of Romulan social customs leads to conflict between Lethe and her already traumatized patients. Many of them file formal complaints against her.

Kes's telepathic abilities allow her to sense people's presence across time and space, but they can also be unstable. Find a way to dampen Kes's powers if needed as she searches for signs of lost Romulans.
The away team fits Kes with a neural interface to carefully monitor her telepathic abilities. Walking through the former site of a city, Kes says she detects no past presences. It is as though no one ever lived there at all.
As Kes desperately searches for traces of the lost Romulans, the telepathic exertion overwhelms her, and the away team's dose of ambizine cannot sedate her. When she finally recovers, she has left a trail of wreckage in her wake.

Wilderness has appeared in place of many of the vanished cities, along with plenty of hungry wildlife. Adapt a warbird's forcefield emitters to create a perimeter that will keep animals out of nearby towns.
Although the forcefield emitters are meant for indoor use, the away team comes up with a simple, repeating framework that can be made into a fence. These barriers should keep new wildlife out of worried towns.
While the away team struggles to adapt indoor forcefield emitters for outdoor use, several Romulan towns begin reporting pests in their homes and predatory animals stalking through their streets.

Ambassador Lwaxana Troi has brought food and medical supplies from Betazed to Romulus, but her flirtations with a married Romulan senator could cause a diplomatic incident unless you can keep the two apart.
The away team arranges long meetings for the Romulan senator and busies Lwaxana with a tour of the capital. Rumors of an affair cease due to their separation, and Betazoid aid keeps flowing to Romulus.
The away team's attempt to separate Lwaxana from the Romulan senator only brings the two rumored lovers closer together. Lwaxana and her supplies are sent home, and the senator is investigated for impropriety.

Many of Romulus's agricultural centers were among the cities that have disappeared. Work with Romulan engineers to establish efficient hydroponic gardens on some of their less fertile land.
The away team adapts traditional hydroponic techniques to make the most of unique nutrients in Romulan soil. Their prototype garden is soon flourishing, and the Romulans gratefully begin to replicate it.
The away team's suggestions fail to account for the unique properties of Romulan soil and air. Their hydroponic garden never blooms, and the Romulan engineers demand a full refund for resources wasted.

Khitomer's Romulan government is in shambles due to the disappearances, and some colonists have begun fighting to reclaim their independence. Negotiate a ceasefire before more blood is spilled on either side.
Shouting over Romulans and Khitomer rebels alike, the away team argues that any agreement could be thrown out if missing officials eventually return. They agree to a ceasefire until the current crisis is resolved.
When the away team tries to negotiate, the Romulans on Khitomer see them as traitors and the rebelling colonists see them as oppressors. More fighting breaks out that very night.

Smelling profit in the air, a band of Ferengi DaiMons are attacking Rator III. With most of their Romulan officials and soldiers gone, the people of Rator cannot stave off these conquerors alone.
The away team swoops in just in time to divert a Ferengi attack on Rator III's capital. With their help, its citizens put up more of a fight than the DaiMons can afford, and they sail off in search of weaker targets.
By the time the away team plans a decent defense of Rator III, its scattered forces are already retreating before the Ferengi Mauraders' bombardment. The Romulan Star Empire may soon lose one of its planets.

Some Romulans are trying to settle on the tracts of land left behind by vanished cities, which would have disastrous consequences for them if the cities can be restored. Convince these settlers to look elsewhere.
The away team goes into great scientific detail about what will happen to the settlers' molecules if cities rematerialize where they stand. The settlers begin returning to their old homes, looking rather queasy.
No matter how the away team argues, the settlers refuse to leave their claims on the sites of vanished cities. If the cities never return, they'll survive there, but the Romulan Empire won't be so fortunate.

Sarpeidon librarian Atoz is the custodian of a powerful time portal. Help Atoz to prepare a team of Romulan scientists to travel back before their cities' disappearance and learn what happened to them.

The away team uses an atavachron to prepare the Romulans' minds and bodies for their trip to the past. Arriving a week before the cities' disappearance, they are shocked to find that the cities are still gone...
Atoz is unfamiliar with Romulan physiology and timelines, and the away team is of no help. Their miscalibrations cause the Romulan scientists to be scattered throughout history, with no way to return home.

Remus has been as affected by this crisis as Romulus, but the Senate is refusing to send help for Reman miners trapped underground due to vanished tunnels. They're in dire need of a rescue team.
Making their way to the deepest accessible tunnel in the mines, the away team blasts an access point to the miners trapped below. They use a forcefield to stabilize the opening until all the miners are safe.
Unable to beam too far down into the dilithium mines, the away team becomes hopelessly lost navigating them on foot. They are forced to ask for an emergency beam out, leaving the Reman miners trapped below.

Annorax is one of the Krenim's finest temporal scientists, but the last time he interfered with timelines he lost his beloved wife. If you find a way to keep her safe, he could help pinpoint the cause of the Romulan crisis.

It takes a full day's work, but the away team installs temporal shielding around Annorax's home. Reassured that his wife will be safe from any changes to the timeline, he agrees to lend his expertise to the Romulans.
None of the away team's suggestions of security details or relocation can convince Annorax that his wife will be safe if he leaves her side. He refuses to help solve the Romulan crisis.

When Tal Shiar Chairman Koval vanished, his classified knowledge of ongoing missions and any undercover operatives went with him. Crack the Tal Shiar's database so his successor can continue the Tal Shiar's work.

Breaking into the Tal Shiar database feels like crawling through a maze, but the away team eventually finds its center. Koval's replacement thanks them for getting the information he needs as the Tal Shiar's new chairman.

No foreign operative has ever cracked the Tal Shiar's central database, and the away team is no exception. The Tal Shiar's own security measures continue to prevent Koval's replacement from doing his job.

Senator Letant is one of the many Romulans who have disappeared, but his constituents in the capital still need a senator to represent them. Organize a new election amidst the chaos of these disappearances.

The away team feeds Romulan census data into the ship's computer and uses an algorithm to generate a list of eligible voters. The election for Senator Letant's replacement can now be held in just a few days.
With voters and many legal records missing, the away team cannot make heads or tails of who is eligible to vote for Letant's replacement. Unable to organize a fair election, they have no choice but to cancel it.

The Romulan military suspects that the Devidians, known to manipulate temporal vortices, may have used such technology to wipe out their cities. Locate and question one of these shapeshifting beings.
Finding a Devidian turns out to be the easy part--not having your mind drained by it is harder. The away team finally manages to capture one, but it firmly insists that its people have done nothing to the Romulans.
The away team visits dozens of worlds in search of Devidians, but if any of the people they encounter are secretly Devidians in disguise, the team can't pick them out.
