Fake user
Spambot in the making over here: removed link. They've already created one spam page: removed link --Middlehead
I deleted the page content and added the tag to mark the page for deletion. --Flinx (talk) 22:20, 6 April 2017 (CDT)
- Thanks Flinx & Middlehead, however that is not necessary in the future. I check a couple times daily for those kinds of accounts, and if I'm on my laptop, i mass delete any pages they create and perm-block them (and their IP address). Any admin on this wiki (which there are quite a few) can block a user, which means this wiki is somewhat-ish safe from spambot type attacks. Titantalk 22:25, 6 April 2017 (CDT)
Another spambot fake user posting movie spam removed links It's easy to use TOR or a VPN service to change the IP address of the poster, that's what many spambots do OR they come in from malware hosted on an "innocent" person's computer. What about locking down the site so that registering requires a valid email address with a confirmation email? Does the Wiki software have that feature? --Flinx (talk) 05:01, 7 April 2017 (CDT)
- We are working on the situation, and I am monitoring the recent changes log. Please do not post links to the spam pages here, or anywhere else, as then they will become redlinks when I (or another admin) deletes them. Thanks for your help though. Titantalk 21:55, 7 April 2017 (CDT)
Understood, no links to SPAM :) -- Flinx (talk) 12:51, 10 April 2017 (CDT)
