An entire section swarming with active drones is more than phaser adapters can handle. CRM 114s might do the trick, but Gaila's Breen suppliers are refusing to sell him more. Help them come to terms.
The away team out-haggles Gaila and intimidates the Breen into doing business together again. Armed with both CRM 114s and phaser adapters, the team clears out the drone-infested section of the cube in no time.
Gaila refuses to concede to the Breen while the Breen stick to their asking price for CRM 114s. Without a deal on the weapons, the away team will need another way to take out the cube's remaining drones.

Reginald Barclay wants to adapt the cube's laser cutting beams for handheld use, but a close call with its internal defenses has made him too nervous to complete the project himself. Send a team to finish the job.
It's hard to work while fending off drones, but the away team adapts the cube's cutting beam technology into a powerful handheld device. Now they can cut through the cube's own walls to access protected core systems.
It's hard to adapt a cutting beam meant to slice up starships into a handheld device, and dealing with drone attacks makes it impossible. The away team joins Barclay in the medbay, nursing many bruises and singes.

An engineering team was trapped inside the cube when the section they were investigating collapsed. With transporters unable to penetrate the deepest layers of the wreckage, you'll need another way to reach them.
The away team overloads power nodes between them and the trapped engineers, shutting down the shields in an access tube. They crawl through the access tube and bring the engineers safely out one by one.
Each time the away team bypasses an internal shield to reach the trapped engineers, a regeneration sequencer brings another back online. It may take hours to bypass them all, hours the engineers do not have.

A dampening field could stop drones from contacting the rest of the Collective, but only the Cardassians possess such technology on a massive scale. Central Command will need convincing to share its secrets.
When the away team describes what will happen to Cardassia if the Federation falls to the Borg, they agree to adapt dampening fields from their space stations to keep the cube's drones from contacting the rest of the fleet.
Despite being hemmed in by the Borg themselves, Cardassia's Central Command does not trust Starfleet enough to share the schematics of their dampening fields, no matter what the away team says to them.

As the cube's systems attempt to repair themselves, one node has managed to activate its transwarp coil. Stop the transwarp aperture that is forming above the crash site before any intact Borg ships come through it.
The away team uses a shuttle's deflector beam to target the transwarp aperture the cube is forming. Once the aperture collapses, they focus on getting through the transwarp coil's shielding to remove it.
The away team cannot get through the transwarp coil's shields shut it down [sic]. No ships emerge from the conduit it forms, but the cube does send out a transmission, which could mean more Borg are on the way...

Ezri Dax was on her way to counsel teams heading into the confines of the Borg cube when the cube's dormant tractor beam activated. Her shuttle remains trapped in its grasp, unless the beam can be shut down.
The away team finds that the tractor beam managed to regenerate from the damage of the crash. They methodically cut off power source after power source until the beam shuts down, freeing Ezri's shuttle.
Having regenerated the damage from the crash, the tractor beam is drawing power from multiple sources. Every time the away team cuts it off from one, it connects to another, leaving Ezri and her shuttle trapped.

The USS Fearless extracted the cube's vinculum for study, but a catastrophic overload caused their tractor beam to fail mid-tow. Stop the vinculum's fall before it shatters across the planet's surface.
Although they could not fully stop the vinculum's fall, the away team used their tractor beam to slow and adjust its trajectory, giving it a soft landing in a nearby lake. The Fearless recovers it, undamaged.
The tractor beam of the away team's shuttle can barely slow a falling Borg vinculum, let alone stop it. By the time the USS Fearless can resume tractoring it, the vinculum is in need of major repairs.

Crew members are requesting that the dead bodies of assimilated loved ones be sent home from the cube, but their implants still have the potential to assimilate others. Starfleet needs to gently turn the families down.
The away team promises families that their assimilated loved ones will be brought home for burial once Starfleet is certain their bodies cannot assimilate others. Though disappointed, the families see the logic in this decision.
The away team's insistence on safety protocols angers families who have lost loved ones twice over: first they were taken by the Borg, then killed as drones. Now Starfleet won't even let their families say goodbye.

Many officers have volunteered to explore the cube's confines, but the claustrophobic environment has proved too much for some. Have an away team assess which officers can handle this assignment.
Every officer in Starfleet wants to fight the Borg, but the away team identifies those with claustrophobia, fear of the dark, and other traits that would make them better suited for tasks other than exploring the crashed cube.
Several officers successfully lie during the away team's psychological assessment and are sent into the Borg cube. Once trapped in its oppressive confines, they begin suffering from paranoia and claustrophobia.

A security team was injected with nanoprobes while fighting drones in the cube's depths. A shuttle could carry them far out enough for emergency transport, if you can navigate the cube's crowded interior.
The away team pilots the smallest shuttle they can find into the cube, dodging walkways and wiring to reach the infected team. Their deft flying gets the team in range for emergency beamout before they are fully assimilated.
Though they keep to relatively open section of the cube, the away team finds piloting a shuttle through it impossible. They cannot reach the infected security team before its members become fully assimilated.

Borg neural interlink frequencies travel deep in subspace, close to the level where the solanogen-based lifeforms dwell. Establish peaceful contact and find out if these beings can access Borg communications.
The away team adjusts Starfleet's translators to the solanogen-based lifeforms' language and learns that they have heard Borg communications passing through their domain. They are willing to share them for a price.
Starfleet's second interaction with the solanogen-based lifeforms goes no better than the first. Unable to establish communications, the away team barely escapes being turned into their newest experiments.

Doctor Selar wants to mind meld with a surviving drone, hoping to learn more about the cube's defenses. She wants an away team standing by to separate them if the connection to the Collective overwhelms her.
The away team breaks Selar away from her mind meld with the drone at the first sign that she is losing herself in the vastness of the Collective. Selar returns to herself with new intel on the Borg cube's defenses.
The inexperienced away team doesn't notice the signs when Selar begins to lose herself too deeply in the Collective's thoughts. When they finally stop her mind meld with the drone, she is practically catatonic.

Starfleet believes an auto-regeneration unit is scuttling around the cube repairing wrecked systems—it would explain why defunct systems keep coming back online. Send an away team to hunt down this pesky device.
The away team uses a trail of repaired systems to predict where the auto-regeneration unit will go next. After a few false starts, they find the device repairing a maturation chamber and shut it down once and for all.
The away team visits repaired system after repaired system, but they always arrive after the auto-regeneration unit has left. They are too busy undoing its work to ever catch and stop the device.

Given how difficult it is to defeat even a single Borg cube, Commander Shelby wants a team to investigate the cause of this cube's crash. With any luck, it may give Starfleet some ideas for defeating others.
The away team feeds what logs they can recover into a restored data node. It takes some time to decipher the readings, but they learn that an electrical storm overloaded the cube's sensors and caused it to crash.
The away team spends hours digging through Borg systems in search of logs or plans, but most of the data is either damaged or incomprehensible. They remain unsure what caused the cube to crash.

A survey team has found a drone with a damaged subspace tranceiver. His individuality might return if he can survive the shock of being separated from the Collective, but he'll need a working alcove to regenerate in.
At first, the away team's alcove refuses to attach to the disconnected drone, unable to detect a signal between him and the Collective. Once the away team mimics such a signal, the former drone can regenerate.
Overwhelmed by the Borg cube's layers of damaged systems, the away team can't restore an alcove enough for it to heal the disconnected drone. Unable to regenerate, he only lives a few more hours.

Ira Graves cannot live on in just any computer, but he hopes to do so in the cube's database. This could give him access to critical data, but he wants safeguards installed in case the Borg systems begin to change him.
The away team installs a failsafe to disconnect Graves's mind from the cube's database if he starts becoming unstable. Once the neural transfer is complete, he begins relaying data about the cube's weak points. So far he still seems like himself.
Once Graves's mind is transferred to the cube's database, the away team realizes too late that he can access the safeguards they planted inside it. He locks the team out of the database, and they have no way of knowing what he intends.

The Srivani use phase varying technology to pass through solid walls and remain unseen—the perfect thing for bypassing the security grid around the cube's central plexus, if you can locate any Srivani to trade with.
The away team sets up rotating scans, each with a slightly different phase. When one picks up the distant signature of a Srivani ship, the Srivani agree to share their phase variance technology to resist the Borg.
None of the away team's scans pick up the Srivani, no matter where they search. Srivani scientists could be standing right next to them, but they have no way to tell, and no way into the Borg cube's central plexus.

Even with most of the cube's defenses offline, its reinforced hull is difficult for scans to penetrate. An away team will have to manually map the cube's maze of corridors to locate key systems.
Although the cube's near-identical corridors are disorienting, the away team maps it in a grid pattern, leaving marks on walls to guide themselves. They report back with a detailed map of the first few levels.
The away team becomes lost in the tangle of identical corridors that fills the cube, and their jumbled tricorder readings are no help. When they don't report back several hours later, another team is sent to recover them.

Starfleet teams find a group of Klingons who were halfway through the agonizing assimilation process when the cube crashed. They need immediate medical attention if they're going to survive.

The away team leaves some of the Klingons' implants intact, not wanting to do more damage to their wounded bodies. They manage to stabilize the Klingons' lifesigns and save more treatment for after they have rested.
Desperate to stop the captured Klingons from further assimilation, the away team begins removing their Borg implants. This only sends their bodies deeper into shock, and two do not survive the procedure.

Starfleet asked the Bynars to help decrypt a data node from the cube's central plexus. An exploding conduit wounded one member of a Bynar pair, and the other cannot continue working until its companion is healed.
It takes a combination of surgical precision and mathematical algorithms to repair the wounded Bynar's synaptic processor. With that done, it recovers quickly, and rejoins its companion in decrypting the Borg data node.
The away team cannot repair the wounded Bynar's synaptic processor, leaving the Bynar unable to communicate with the other half of its pair. Both of them abandon their work on the Borg data node and return to Bynaus in distress.
