The role a particular type of orchid played in the creation of Tuvix led to Starfleet scientists beginning to evaluate other alien plant life for potential impacts on transport. Your away team is enlisted to assist in the investigation.
Your away team helps gather a variety of plant species from various worlds and assists in running experiments (with ample safety protocols, of course) to test how the plants might impact transporting crew members.
While experimenting with an alien breed of carnivorous plant, a member of your team is fused with it, leading them to have a humanoid body and a Venus flytrap-esque head.

A transporter accident maims a crew member of a prominent science vessel. Moments before they pass from their injuries, they manage to whisper, "sabotage." Investigate the crew member's death.
Reviewing readings from the seconds before the transport and data from the crew member's combadge, you realize something else was transported with them that scrambled the pattern buffer when they rematerialized.
Your away team's questioning of the crew begins to ruffle feathers and you are kicked off the starship.

The Ramatisian royal family is coming down on the UFP for its handling of the murder of a family member's chorus. Complicating matters is how the chorus is perceived because of their telepathic link to royalty. Investigate the ethical implications.
While many Ramatisians you speak to are hesitant at first, your team manages to review documentation and literature on how similar matters are handled on Ramatis, including how the link is viewed medically. You compile your findings for Starfleet.
An overabundance of ill will and poor handling on your away team's part result in most Ramatisians being unwilling to speak with you.

A sentient hologram has accessed a ship's transporter and fashioned himself an organic form using molecular data stored within. Hearing this, a group of other sentient holograms attempt to do the same, tying up one ship's transporter. Intervene.
Your away team helps to shut down the ship's transporter and evacuate the crew by shuttlecraft to a nearby space station. Back aboard the ship, your team and the bridge crew meet with the holograms to address the situation.
While attempting to shut down the transporter, a member of your team accidentally increases power to the transporter, allowing the other holograms to come through at a rapid pace until the transporter overloads.

As the Tuvix situation becomes the talk of the galaxy, many worlds are insisting there wouldn't be so much disaster if Starfleet didn't beam onto random planets unannounced. This sentiment leads some to instate harsher restrictions. Investigate.
Your team meets with leaders across the galaxy. Some are requiring permission; others are insisting shuttlecraft only or landing only in designated places; still others complain crew have damaged native plant life. You gather and submit the details.
While beaming down to meet with a leader of a planet covered in sophisticated flora, a member of your team steps on a plant, killing it and enraging the residents of the planet.

When a Pandronian engineer loses a limb while addressing a hull breach, they become outraged at the chief medical officer's handling of what they consider a colony of parts. Investigate.
Your team interviews Pandronians, within Starfleet and without, as well as researching Pandronian medical literature and ethics. You meet with the CMO and share your findings. He apologizes to the Pandronian and Starfleet updates their trainings.
While interviewing Pandronians, a member of your team offends one of them and you are pulled off the investigation.

Many individuals, inside and outside the Federation, are concerned about Starfleet's exploration activities in the wake of the Tuvix scandal. Investigate the matter.
Your away team hears many concerns on the subject. Several Starfleet ethicists are deep in debate over the issue, as many armchair ethicists throughout the galaxy watch with rapt attention. It seems this will be an ongoing matter of consideration.
While speaking with a group of civilians, your away team's line of questioning deeply offends them and you are asked to stand down so another, more diplomatically astute team can take over.

Many who are sympathetic to Tuvix have reached out, offering him everything from a commission to a new home. But news quickly reaches you that some of the Tuvixes are declining in health. Investigate.
Your team visits several Tuvixes - some healthy and some unwell. It appears some Tuvixes are experiencing molecular degradation, but not all of them. You begin treatment and continue to monitor them in the hopes of of understanding what is happening.
While visiting one version of Tuvix, a member of your team opines that she would have done what Janeway did. Outraged, Tuvix demands your away team leave.
