Rich Gallup: Executive Producer

David Heron: Principal Game Designer

Rich: Hello everybody I'm Rich Gallup executive producer here at Disruptor Beam and I'm joined by

David: David, I'm a designer on Star Trek Timelines... The name of our game

Rich: So I just got back from paternity leave David as you can tell by my beard, and while I was gone you guys have been doing some great work on the dispute system and the fleshing out some of the factions in the game and we're here today to spend a couple of minutes talking about the Bajorans. On my paternity leave I finished rewatching some of it and watching some of it for the first time all of Deep Space Nine

David: Alright it's my favourite Star Trek, secretly best Star Trek, tell me it's your favourite Star Trek

Rich: I would say that the average Deep Space Nine episode is probably a higher quality than your average Next Gen episode, but still Next Gen is still my favourite show

David: Alright so in the comments "David's right"!

Rich: Let's see 'em

David: The Bajoran's are interesting, I like them in Deep Space Nine because they were one of the first sort of cultures that at least I was introduced to that had like a lot of back history and so they had, they have like this history of deep culture but also the desire and the need to protect that culture

David: So the Maquis are back from time and they are resuming hostilities against the Cardassians and it sort of puts the Bajorans in this weird spot because there's some factions within the Bajoran people, former resistance members that have come back through time so the Shakaar resistance which Major Kira was a part of that maybe are more sympathetic to the Maquis play and aren't particularly happy with the ruling government of Bajor and so there's this sort of three way dance between the Cardasians, the remaining Cardasians of the former Union, the new Maquis that are back and Bajor and so the first thing that we're trying to prove out here is how can the player and their crew sort of navigate and nudge this really complicated political situation in one direction or another

Rich: When talking about characters from Deep Space Nine or at least that pertain to Bajor you have to start with the Emissary Benjamin Sisko, and we haven't revealed too much about the multiple characters, the multiple versions of the characters you'll find in Star Trek Timelines, and the time to tell you more is not now, but lets tease a little bit. So there will be more than one Ben Sisko

David: Beard or no beard?

Rich: ...Both?

David: Yeah?

Rich: So that's the kind of stuff we're figuring out right now

David: Right

Rich: But there's very different Ben Sisko's - I'm the Emissary, I don't know what that means then there's I'm the Emissary, we're going to take care of this we're gong to protect Bajor, and that flavor will also be coming across in the missions in Star Trek Timelines

David: Yeah I think that's one of the coolest things about this game, so you can take a character like Sisko who has a really powerful transformation in a lot of ways a lot of the show is about that so we can take something like the Bajor Maquis conflict and you can see how an early Sisko, a Sisko that wasn't particularly happy, asked Picard for his resignation, how he might react completely different to you know the Sisko that's like fresh off the tails of being betrayed by Eddington like that Sisko

Rich: That's why I hate the Maquis, Eddington, so smarmy

David: So we're gonna play with that and because of the sort of temportal anomalies going on I think we can have some pretty interesting actions, even within like a single character

Rich: And that's just the one character, so there's the Starfleet side, there's the Bajor side, there's the Cardassian side, there's the Maquis side, there all kinds of characters to pull from and one of the challenges we face as a development team is like obviously we want every single character from the show

David: That's right

Rich: in the game, but we have to pick who are the small handful that we can get into the game for launch that fully represent every side

David: Yeah who are the most interesting characters, who are you going to want in your team on your ship, who are gonna provide interesting stories

Rich: We hope you enjoyed this quick refresher on the Bajorans and how they will be in play in Star Trek Timelines thank you very much for joining us David

David: My pleasure

Rich: Be sure to like and subscribe we'll be doing videos every week right here at Disruptor Beam, thanks for watching

David: Ok really Deep Space Nine it's not your favourite, come one

Rich: It's like 1b, it's like 1a and 1b
