Event Images

Hi Siguard,

Can anyone upload images to the "Event" pages or are you the only one allowed? If so, what is the best way to do this and what are the maximum resolution for these images? I've noticed that there are several different resolutions for these images.

--Captain Spirk (talk) 06:31, 9 February 2019 (CST)

Anyone can upload images. The only size limit is 2MB. The higher resolution, the better. --Siguard (talk) 10:39, 9 February 2019 (CST)
Hi Siguard,
How do you upload your images for the Event? Do you take a snapshot of the image from your iphone or from other apps? And then what image editor do you use to edit that image? I tried uploading image for event, but it looks different to the one you upload. The image looks a bit skewed on the height. Maybe that's because my iPhone XR is off scale a bit. How do you use the different resolutions for the event images?
BTW, why is Titan quiet this year?

Character Stat Cards

Do you know who creates the stat cards? There's quite a few missing, I was hoping to collect those missing and get them in the wiki. Thanks Ace (talk) 09:20, 31 March 2019 (CDT)

Got my answer off FB. Thanks Ace (talk) 15:13, 1 April 2019 (CDT)

I started a few changes on the CrewNav that seemed beneficial. For instance, we had Jack, Crusher, and Wesley. Inconsistent. However, looking at all the inconsistencies, and the corresponding similarities in the crew and character pages, should I just leave it alone? It seems no one before me has seen the need to fix it. I want to talk with someone about it. Thanks Ace (talk) 11:33, 9 April 2019 (CDT)

I thought that the Mugato was always from the 23rd Century and not the 22nd as per the episode, “A Private Little War.”

ShipAbility display order

Why do you keep changing the display order of Cooldown and Duration in ShipAbility? Every screen in the game reads Cooldown->Duration, matching the in-game reading order makes the most sense to me. Middlehead (talk) 11:36, 1 May 2019 (CDT)

Because it's in chronological order having Initialization - Duration - Cooldown. It makes it way easier to read when you're figuring out how best to assign crew to your ships. That's the whole point of the wiki, making it easier to play the game. Initially we had it as Initialization - Cooldown - Duration to match the game to make it easier on editors to input the data because that ship ability was a simple table. Now that it's a template, we can have it both easier for editors to edit and have it in chronological order. --Siguard (talk) 14:01, 3 May 2019 (CDT)

Skills calculation based on a single value

Hi, how do you calculate the values to the other rarity levels from a single value? I see you projected the values for Niners Worf from my rarity 1 value. I would be willing to fill in the complete row as I level up my crew. Thanks. Dlefebvre1701 (talk) 06:06, 7 May 2019 (CDT)

It is a complex formula I figured out some time ago. I have a speadsheet that does the math for me. It's about 98% accurate because of rounding errors. --Siguard (talk) 20:23, 8 May 2019 (CDT)

ATSB Bonus

Hi Siguard,

How come the Away Team skills are sometimes off for some of the crew by one? Are you going to fix the ATSB for the crew at some point? Does that mean all the crew the crew need to be checked for their ATSB numbers again?

--Captain Spirk (talk) 11:59, 18 August 2019 (CDT)

It's a rounding error that can't be helped. The Crew's stats in game don't increase by whole numbers. There are off screen fractions at all levels. The best I can see, FF/FE 100 is the only time where the stats are whole numbers. --Siguard (talk) 15:28, 23 August 2019 (CDT)

Trouble with Tribbles

Hey Siguard. I've got a question about how to handle the icon for Tribble Herder Scotty's Tribbles. Whoever created the icon had some fun with it. As the rarity increases so does the number of tribbles in the image. For uncommon it's one tribble. TribbleHerderScottysTribbles2.png For rare and super rare it's three. TribbleHerderScottysTribbles3.png And for legendary it's seven. TribbleHerderScottysTribbles5.png I don't have the template images saved on my end for the border and the stars so I can't just quickly put them together and I can't find them on the Wiki here without the background also included so editing that out is just more of a pain than I want to go through. I'm sure the border and stars exist somewhere with transparency, but I just can't find them. --Darxide (talk) 12:26, 15 October 2019 (CDT)

Ugh, that's cute, but man that throws a wrench in my template. I may just need to manually edit those pics in there. Thanks for the heads up. Sorry for the delay.--Siguard (talk) 10:15, 24 October 2019 (CDT)
I hardcoded an exception for the Tribble Herder Scotty's Tribbles images to create the proper images. Spacer.pngTribbleHerderScottysTribbles2.pngFlipUncommon.png Spacer.pngTribbleHerderScottysTribbles3.pngFlipRare.png Spacer.pngTribbleHerderScottysTribbles5.pngFlipLegendary.png Lets just hope that this isn't a new thing where the images are going to be different with each level... --Siguard (talk) 12:46, 26 October 2019 (CDT)
It might be time to rethink the template. Safecracker Nog now has a changing icon depending on the rank. Safecracker Nog's Safe changes from closedSafecrackerNogsSafe2.png to openSafecrackerNogsSafe5.png. I guess this is going to be a trend. --Darxide (talk) 20:44, 12 November 2019 (CST)
My initial thought would be to set up a list, like for items that have flipped images, for items like this that have different images at different levels. We, as a community, would need to have a naming convention. I would suggest adding the number of the level the image changes. For example, the Tribble Herder Scotty's Tribbles start at Uncommon Then changes at Rare Then changes again at Legendary . I'll work on the coding over Thanksgiving. --Siguard (talk) 18:09, 24 November 2019 (CST)
I think that's a pretty simple solution using the system that's already in place. No need to rejig the entire ItemPic template. For Safecracker Nog, the safe image changes only at the 5* item. All of the other ranks are closed. --Darxide (talk) 23:47, 24 November 2019 (CST)
Ok, I edited the template code. Now, when there's a new item where the image changes with the rarity, all we need to do it upload the images with the rarity number at the end, i.e.: SafecrackerNogsSafe2 SafecrackerNogsSafe2.png and SafecrackerNogsSafe5 SafecrackerNogsSafe5.png, then add the Item Name to , then add the lowest rarity image name in . Example:
| Safecracker Nog's Safe =
I know all of this is kind of a pain, but it seems like the easiest way to have the correct images displayed. I've added a bit of a tutorial to . --Siguard (talk) 18:18, 28 November 2019 (CST)
Got it. Seems to be the most elegant solution possible given the circumstances. I'm noticing that for the item pages we're using ItemName=PAGENAME. Other than adding the entry to I assume this is the only deviation from the norm when filling in this info? --Darxide (talk) 12:56, 2 December 2019 (CST)
An alternative would be to try to automate the process with some "guessing" for the correct filename based on pagename. I.e. a template that takes a page name Tribble Herder Scotty's Tribbles and uses string functions to generate a filename. Remove all spaces, apostrophes, see if that exists, if not try appending a rarity number on. There are already conventions on the wiki, just need a template to use those conventions. Just a thought. Titantalk 13:44, 2 December 2019 (CST)
More fun with images! Bajoran Urn flips vertically for the Legendary image. Middlehead (talk) 17:38, 10 January 2020 (CST)
Completed.--Siguard (talk) 19:40, 23 January 2020 (CST)

Vargas' Uniform

By going to the direct link of the Facebook version of the game you can use any Unity package viewer and view all of the game files. --Darxide (talk) 18:46, 11 December 2019 (CST)

UnityPack is what I use. --Darxide (talk) 10:56, 2 February 2020 (CST)

Torpedo Surgeon McCoy

Hi Siguard,

The previous image was displaying the wrong rank pin for Torpedo Surgeon McCoy from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Can you delete my current version of Torpedo Surgeon McCoy head as I need to re-upload it. The full version is working. Will deleting all, delete all the images in that file? --Captain Spirk (talk) 10:37, 26 January 2020 (CST)

No need to delete the files. Just "upload a new version". --Siguard (talk) 18:05, 30 January 2020 (CST)

Image size standard

Hi Siguard,

Should there be a standard image size for Category:Crew Full and Category:Crew Head? For example, should we use your image size for Category:Crew Full, instead of the one that User:Dlefebvre1701 uses? I think I like your image size for this best. And is there only one size for Category:Crew Head?

I will ask Koba44 and Middlehead and see what they think?

--Captain Spirk (talk) 12:38, 9 March 2020 (CDT)

It would be great to have a standard image size, i.e. not having a bunch of empty spaces around an image. However, the issue is that Dlefebvre1701 most likely gets the images from a Unity package viewer and just uploading it. Honestly, I'll take what I can get when it comes to images. I've been cleaning up the images whenever I've had the free time.--Siguard (talk) 21:24, 9 March 2020 (CDT)
I also get my images that way. Maybe he just doesn't have photoshop like me to edit the images before uploading. Do you mind if I edit and re-upload the images? Can anyone edit other people's images?
--Captain Spirk (talk) 10:02, 11 March 2020 (CDT)
Yeah, feel free to edit those images.--Siguard (talk) 18:25, 18 March 2020 (CDT)

Hi Siguard,

How do you use the ? It looks complcated.

--Captain Spirk (talk) 10:54, 14 March 2020 (CDT)

It's no longer needed. It was a stop gap measure when the wiki was having issues with its categories.--Siguard (talk) 18:20, 18 March 2020 (CDT)

Gallery of Items (S)

Hi Siguard,

Can you please remove the broken for StunnedCardassianVole.png under Gallery of Items (S) ? I do not know how to go about doing this.

Thank you.

Event/Threshold Rewards

Hey Siguard, I was wondering if you could take a moment to look at and let me know why my addition of Citations isn't working? I successfully added Super Rare and Legendary Citations to Currency, but the Event Rewards page isn't registering things right. If I try to display a citation it just ignores the line instead. I'm trying to add citations because some Collections are giving them out now and that page uses the Event Rewards template. Thanks. --Darxide (talk) 23:22, 27 April 2020 (CDT)

Sorry, it took so long, but I got it sorted. You were right on the money with , but there was that needed to be updated as well.--Siguard (talk) 21:06, 11 May 2020 (CDT)

Hey, Can you take a look at User:Titan/Sandbox/4 and comment here on what you think? Thanks, Titantalk 20:52, 7 September 2021 (CDT)

Crew Full Category Required?

I see you added the Crew Full tag to the images, is that required? I had thought the filename including "Full" was enough. Is "Card" the same way? How did you know which files did not have the tag? Do you know if it's possible to auto add the category/tag based on filename? Thanks man! Ace (talk) 03:27, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

I wouldn't say it's required, but it's the only way I know of to be able to look at all of the "Crew Full" images or "Crew Card" images all in one place, by adding the category to the files. I sort of do it out of habit now-a-days. I have a handy bit of code that searches though every image file has "Card", "Carda" (because of a spelling error that popped up a few times), or "Cards" in the title, but that isn't in the "Crew Card" or "Images" category.
<dpl> notcategory=Crew Card notcategory=Images ordermethod = title order = ascending namespace=file notnamespace = Category mode=gallery titlematch=%Card% nottitlematch=%Carda% nottitlematch=%Cards% </dpl>
--Siguard (talk) 23:32, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
PS, Thanks for uploading all of those images.
Ok. So are all the current Cards and Fulls caught up? I will add the category from now on. Ace (talk) 23:39, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
Yep, we're good! Thanks again for everything!--Siguard (talk) 22:46, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

Massive edits

Hi Siguard,

Do you know how to do massive edits on thousands of pages on the wiki?

For e.g., I want to edit all the crew's section so that all the = sign is aligned. The new crew works because I changed the recently, but all the old crew uses the old format. I want to change it for all the old crew.

Can you help me in this area? Do I have to create a bot or something?

--Captain Spirk (talk) 17:39, 29 October 2021 (UTC)

I don't have the technical expertise to help in this situation. I think a bot could do it, but I've never tried. Sorry.--Siguard (talk) 23:38, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
