Until the error with the crew pages count can be resolved (currently, the crew count is 1 more than it should be), I suggest adding a "-1" to the crew count on the Main Page, as was done on the Crew/List page recently. Mattyj86 (talk) 13:20, 28 February 2018 (CST)

Agreed, this does seem to be an ancient MediaWiki bug[1]. Unless somebody has some other ideas or information, I'll integrate the -1. --Crunch (talk) 13:53, 28 February 2018 (CST)
This has been fixed. I went ahead and removed those expr that were added to fix the bug. Ran some maintenance scripts to force recount categories for all pages and files. Titantalk 20:58, 29 March 2018 (CDT)
Hi Titan, can I change the main page count to 3 instead of 1, as that accurately displays the in game count to the wiki count or will that ruin all the other pages? --Captain Spirk (talk) 08:13, 31 January 2020 (CST)
What count are you referring to? Ideally we determine why the count is off, rather then modify an expression. Titantalk 16:44, 31 January 2020 (CST)
I am talking about the crew count, being off by 2. Using the expression, ({{#expr:{{PAGESINCATEGORY:Crew|Pages|R}}-3}}) makes it inline with the game count. The count needs to be -3 to be accurate. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. Today was the day I went on the computer for a long time. --Captain Spirk (talk) 07:36, 6 February 2020 (CST)
It would be better to figure out why the count is off in the first place. Probably a few pages that are in Category:Crew that should not be. Titantalk 00:03, 8 February 2020 (CST)
I think Category:Crew seems to be the culprit. Crew/List seems to be OK. How do you edit Category:Crew to include the above expression? --Captain Spirk (talk) 07:35, 10 February 2020 (CST)
Yes/No. Crew/List has absolutely NOTHING to do with categories. The counts on the main page are from the amount of pages in specific categories, in this case, Category:Crew. The counts should be accurate to the number of pages in the category, the issue is pages in Category:Crew that should NOT be in there. Find and remove those pages from the category (look through pages, find one that shouldn't be in Category:Crew, and remove the category tag from that page). Titantalk 18:51, 12 February 2020 (CST)
I had a look at the Category:Crew page and tried to remove the two pages which were causing the problem. I thought the following pages, Category:Skills and Category:Traits were causing the count inaccuracies. I removed the Category:Crew on those pages, but had no affect. Would you mind taking a look at this problem? I like the crew count to be accurate. I didn't understand what you were really saying, I guess. Thanks. --Captain Spirk (talk) 10:55, 19 February 2020 (CST)
Now the crew count is out by five. Something really wrong is going with the crew count. --Captain Spirk (talk) 10:08, 6 March 2020 (CST)
While i understand you are concerned about the counts on the main page, i honestly have no interest in investigating this. To do so would require verifying all pages (800+) in the category (on the category page) are supposed to be in the category, as well as, figuring out which pages/crew do NOT appear in the category that should. You are welcome to do that though, but keep in mind any new crew pages that are added while that task is being done could effect the counts. Titantalk 01:57, 9 March 2020 (CDT)
